  1. I have to disagree. We didnt lose money to spend next year. And I dont think Izturis [is breaking the bank] (i editted this not realizing he makes 3.2 mil). We gained a 26 year old all star short stop. We werent getting Either or Guzman, but instead we have one of the better ss in the nl, offensively lacking or not.
  2. aramis said nothing that his teamates wouldnt agree with
  3. It boggles my mind at how much people take for granted a good offensive catcher.... not even good... outstanding like barrett, who improves every year. Its not like he is mike piazza out there. trading barrett is as useful as I knitting. and i cant knit.
  4. Make no mistake about it. Nothing compares to the sorrow and dispare of the 2004 season. These last two years are still a long hangover for me. Brazell and Vic Diaz... Brazell and Vic Diaz.... I hate LaTroy Hawkins.
  5. YES, SO I CAN HAVE THE LITTLE PLEASURE OF SAYING "COME ON CAT!!!" also because he is an underrated hitter. but mostly because OF ME CALLING HIM CAT!!!!
  6. I ALSO JUST MOVED TO DETROIT. I GO TO QUITE A BIT OF GAMES HERE. THE STADIUM IS AMAZING TO WATCH A GAME IN. WAY BETTER TO WATCH A GAME FOR ME THAN WRIGLEY(I LOVE WRIGLEY BUT THE "MYSTIC" ONLY GOES SO FAR, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE BEEN THERE 50 TIMES). !!!AS FAR AS JUST GOING TO WATCH A GAME GOES!!! I DONT WANT TO BE VIRTUALLY MOBBED. COMERICA IS NOT "BETTER" THAN WRIGLEY OVERALL. I HAVE SEEN SOME OF THE BEST BASEBALL HERE THAT I HAVE SEEN IN A WHILE(IM FROM MILWAUKEE, EXPLAINS IT ALL). INCLUDING CURTIS GRANDERSON'S BOTTOM OF THE NINTH TWO OUT 0-2 OPPOSITE FIELD HOME RUN THAT HIT THE FOUL POLE TO SEND IT TO EXTRAS AGAINST THE REDS. I ALWAYS GO HOME AND WISH THAT MY INTEGRITY AND STUPIDTY DIDNT PRECLUDE ME FROM GOING FULL OUT TIGERS. I WISH YOU ALL HAD THE CHANCE TO GO SEE THEM PLAY ON A REGULAR BASIS. IT TAKES THE STING OUT OF THE CUBS CRAP SEASON(WELL A LITTLE BIT ANYWAY).[/i]
  7. I don't follow the Rays very closely - how bad are his shoulders? Is it a "one-time it'll be better next year" thing or a chronic problem? His Shoulders looked fine when he took Schilling deep yesterday.
  8. I Welcome Comments: 1. I wonder if anyone else is like this. I grew up a football fan, an almost obsessed Bears/ UW Badgers fan. Baseball came later. Now, this season will have officially been the year where baseball is number one for me. Not because I stopped loving football but more because I think baseball is the best sport in the world. 1a. That means that I cant stop watching the Cubs! I want to not care or at least not desire to see every game, but I cant. Im sick!! God why couldnt they have been .500 or something close. Not 22 games under. I know the season is over. Yet, I must watch every game, read every article. 2. I never in my life been so wrong about a player then what I was with Jacque Jones. For 6 million a year, if can continue to hit even comperable to what he is doing now, he is worth the money. Was it really hitting in the triple H that hurt him? 3. I really like Ronny Cedeno, but I hope he can show better plate patience because right now... I only see him as a fringe starter for the rest of his career. 4. Keep Prior...... Balls being hit to your pitching elbow is a freak injury that would screw up anybody. I see the old prior emerging.. One or two more starts and he should be old prior again. 5. Wood for less than 6 million a year or nothing... He is my favorite athlete, period. I saw him pitch in iowa in the begining of the season 98', and I have had a man crush on him ever since. However, enough is enough. It is unfortunate because I know he can come back like Chris Carpenter did and do well. I havent seen a pitcher as talented as he was his rookie year... and probably never will. 6. Keep Dusty.... THATS RIGHT I SAID IT. I dont see a viable alternative. Uncle Lou... he will only last three years here at most. Brenly... I doubt they will go down that road. Dave McKay or Dave Duncan from the Cardinals, Jerry Manuel from the Mets, Don Cooper from the White Sox, Larry Bowa or Tony Pena from the Yanks. Bobby Valentine from Japan.. None of those would be markedly better than Baker. This team, as assembled is crap. 7. No trades.. JUST SIGN CARLOS LEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8. Re-sign Wade Miller, if he will sign another 1 year 1 mil K 9. Marmol needs some I-Cubs seasoning. 10. Williamson is on the "outside" because he sucks! Throw strikes then we will talk. 11. I love murton, but he might not even be the best outfield prospect on the Cubs right now. Pagan doesnt look half bad, I hope he gets more at bats once Nevin is traded/ optioned. 12. Dumpster, I get it, youre a dad. Congrats. Get it together. 13. Dick Pole, if it wasnt for your name, you would be worthless! THAT IS ALL FOR NOW
  9. c- sandy martinez(always), lo duca ib- lee 2b- bellhorn 3b- aram ss- tejada rf- ichiro cf- griffey lf- dunn sp-wood sp-zito sp- kazmir sp- moyer sp- lowe rp- flash gordon
  10. IM IN!!!! PUT ME IN THE TRUNK!!!
  11. Erye Best setup guy in the NL, despite playing for the cubs.
  12. You are also on crack if you think Miller will keep up those numbers. Now, I think Damian Miller is a vastly underrated catcher. Ask Capuano and Doug Davis how nice it is to have him behind the plate. I would still rather have barrett, 29, then Miller 35. Barrett isnt our problem.
  13. The difference is Mark Cuban transformed one of the worst franchises in sports history(and I dont just mean losing, like the Cubs; I mean a franchise that no one cared about, with a dwindling fan base, and no history what so ever) into one of the most popular sports teams in american sports, by using logic in personal moves and devotion to winning. He brings to the table what george steinbrenner does, and regardless of whether the yankees have won a world series or not lately, the fact is that they will forever be a factor. The yankees and the mav will always be involved in the postseason, and will decide on the outcome of each season no matter what. That is the difference between cuban and the trib. No the trib is not the worst owners in mlb like kevin mcclatchy or what ever (family site) is running the royals; but they do not demand winning, and that is the difference.
  14. That made me laugh my "family site" off.
  15. Yah, i hate guys who constantly get on base... the cubs dont need that, and a switch hitter, yuk. For that matter, We also do not need a hitter who can drive in runs either. BTW The padres would be boarderline mentally challenged to trade belhorn for hariston, especially with klesko hurt.
  16. You wouldnt want them because the cubs have one of the best players in major league baseball, and to sign any of those players, while would be fine for other clubs with lesser 1bs, is unacceptable to cubs fans who are spoiled with Lee. Hence, It was an amazing bargin for the amount of money Lee signed for. To prove my point would one of the number crunchers compare Lee's numbers and his contract amount to other players with simular monetary compensation.
  17. Im in, but im leaving room for the let Adam Greenburg have a full at-bat BandWGN
  18. Since I was little the only sports teams I hated were the Packers and Mich St Mens Basketball team... It  was Matt Morris talking S+++ in 03' about how he was rooting for any team playing the Cubs in the playoffs, and that they made to the postseason b/c of an easy schedule in Sept(which was true). That bumped me from utter dislike to total hatred. Also, cause Chris Carpenter goes from injury prone to Walter Johnson the minute his jersey changed red.
  19. In Milwaukee-2001, it wasnt a huge problem with G-Dub comming in, but Busch II is downtown..
