  1. Just wait until after the waiver process starts. Then your minor leaguer will be a free agent and you can pick them up without losing your waiver position. I suppose that would work too.
  2. You got it backwards. I you transfer down to 1AA you don't have to sit out a year, or if you have finished undergrad and are taking grad school classes at the new college. Some times the NCAA will approve a waiver for family medical issues. Yeah, Sam McLauren is in that situation with Illinois. He graduated from Coastal Carolina and transferred to Illinois for grad school. He had one remaining year of eligibility and was able to start right away. I believe they had a preferred walk-on that transferred from Chicago State, or something too and was able to play right away. I'd have to look that up, though. Edit: Kevin Berardini played at Loyola Marymount, but redshirted his freshman year and transferred to Illinois before his sophomore year. He retained all 4 years of eligibility.
  3. +1, I'm not a big fan of the road greys, but I'm not sure what I'd want them to be changed to.
  4. A park and a parking lot Depends on how they do the parking. If they were to build parking garages instead of an open parking lot, I would think they'd have room to build a few businesses. Maybe I'm overestimating the possibilities. Edit: Just an example, the Twins new Target Field is built on an 8 acre plot. Why couldn't the Cubs do something similar?
  5. I think so. Transfers almost always lose a year of eligibility, unless they're grad students...or players released from LOI when coaches are fired....or football players from Penn State..
  6. I find it hard to believe the Cubs would move, but having the leverage can't hurt. That said, think of what the Cubs could do with 25 acres. They could build a whole lot more than a ballpark.
  7. I'm disappointed Urlacher won't be back with the Bears, but I can't say I disagree with the decision. I always like to see great players go out on their own terms, not forced out. And to think, he'd probably be back if it weren't for him being in a meaningless game vs the Vikings at the end of the season. That knee has never been right since.
  8. MiLB draftees should be added to teams before waivers open. There's no reason for someone to lose their waiver position based on picking up draft picks. I'd either open it up temporarily so everyone can pick their guys up, or the commish should manually add draftees. Edit: If we open it up in order to add draftees, the waiver order can be restored afterwards.
  9. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/jon-heyman/21877481/heres-plan-for-andrus-and-profar-baseballs-best-shortstop-tandem My apologies if anyone else has brought this up.
  10. We may need 5 rounds...
  11. He's available on the CBS site. I'd say you're good.
  12. Chicken of the Sea (Eye of Texas) trades 2013 3rd round MiLB pick to HBC. HBC trades 2014 5th round pick in MiLB draft to Chicken of the Sea ( Eye of Texas.)
  13. Just traded for this pick. I'll post in trade thread.
  14. +1
  15. Text sent Thanks - I wanted to make sure someone else hadn't so we wouldn't be bombarding the guy. Never know, he may enjoy the attention.
  16. Text sent
  17. Anyone PM or text him?
  18. That's not too shabby! It's a far cry from a few years ago.
  19. I'm interested to see how Q uses him. I thought he'd be the call up when Sharpie went down.
  20. I don't doubt that at all. Many of these contracts you can rip up after the first couple years though. I think it's a great move. The Bears had to upgrade the line, especially the LT position. Bushrod may not be the best in the league, but he's certainly better than J'Marcus Webb.
  21. HBC receives STI's 3rd round in 2013 MiLB draft. STI receives HBC's 4th round in 2014 MiLB draft.
