  1. I think you are right. Murton needs at bats to get his swing back. He just doesn't look the same this year. In the games Murton has started, he has a line of .357/.400/.393. PH is not his thing, but he's tearing it up when he gets playing time. His struggles are very greatly exaggerated. I'm not sure I would call a .793 OPS from a corner outfielder "tearing it up." Ok, besides his power numbers not being spectacular in those 28 AB's, he's tearing it up with 10 hits and a .400 OBP.
  2. I think you are right. Murton needs at bats to get his swing back. He just doesn't look the same this year. Unfortunately for all us Murton fans, I think that move actually makes the most sense. It will start to unclog a crowded outfield, and I'm in agreement: he's not quite right at the plate. But is he still Iowa-eligible? Read the post directly above your's. If that's Murton slumping, then look out world.
  3. That's been true since the day Soriano signed. I'd still rather have Murton in RF than Jones, right now. It's not like Jones possesses a great arm anyway. Why didn't the Cubs try Soriano in RF this spring? Wouldn't it have made sense to try to get the team ready for the future. If Pie, Soriano, and Murton are our future wouldn't it have been best to figure out how they would fit best? Quick question though were would Colvin fit in all of this? I believe he is learning CF, could be wrong. Are the cubs planning on him being the solution in RF in the future? Maybe Hendyr is thinking Soriano, Pie, Colving and Murton isn't even in the picture. I don't think Colvin is talented enough to be thinking about while he's still in A ball. I'm not saying he can't be a good major leaguer, but he's far from a sure thing.
  4. Just wanted to point something out: In the games Murton has started, his line is .357/.400/.393. He's done very poorly as a PH and late-innings sub. In 9 PA, his line is .000/.111/.000. So it seems that all the talk of Murton's struggles is greatly exaggerated and a role as a PH or late-inning sub just isn't his thing. He's tearing it up as a starter.

  6. why, do you not like winning? He doesnt like cheating. Cheating or not. I just don't like his attitude. im pretty sure we can ignore someone's attittude if the team wins. whats more important, attitude or winning? the world's not disney world. You would really want to cheer for a team full of Bondses? I think you'd change your mind pretty quick about that. I wouldn't have enjoyed the Colts Superbowl win nearly as much if you replaced guys like Dungy and Harrison with Belichick and Terrell Owens. Not every player has to be my favorite person in the world but Bonds would be too much to ask for, I just couldn't cheer for a guy like that.
  7. That has nothing to do with how many he will hit this season. Neither does the rest of the thread. Why does it matter when he hits a homer? He's still hitting well and that's all that matters. This is overblown. What does that have to do with what gflore said? Comparing him to Juan Pierre or David Eckstein is ridiculous. Even if both of those guys hit homers tomorrow it wouldn't prove that Lee can't hit home runs. No one compared him to them, give me a break. Someone said he thinks they will hit a HR before he does. That's not even close to the same thing. Then why name two extremely light hitters? You give me a break. No...YOU give me a break.
  8. Gee Dusty, good call having Wuertz in that minors all year last year.
  9. 9 pitches to our 1-4 hitters.....That needs to be fixed.
  10. If the 04 Cubs finished middle of the pack in runs, our offense will always suck. Lee, Ramirez, Sosa, Alou, Nomar, Walker, Barrett, Patterson..... I would be happier if I weren't a Cubs fan, thats for sure.
  11. The motto of the 2007 Cubs: "The Cubs: Losing in ways you wouldn't believe." Wow, couldn't have said it better. I sat here stunned for half the game today....its absolutely mind boggling.
  12. He's been a decent relief pitcher, its ridiculous that he's shutting people down as a starter. I'm not very tough so unfortunately I probably couldn't hit you hard enough for that.
  13. ...has given up 3 runs or less to the Mets, Brewers, Pirates, and Cubs now. The league hasn't been able to hit him so far-maybe they will be able to their second time around. Right now he's pitching very well though-he has only given up 3 runs in his last 20 innings. Exactly.....how the hell does this happen?
  14. Cursed......there's no way it's not true.
  15. 0-1 is much better. He is on the All Star track this year, no doubt. yeah, that's what i said. on that note, i'll leave the game thread to you whiny babies. I don't understand why noone ever calls you out on your constant name calling. What other point were you making with your statement? 0-1 or 0-4 it is all horrible. I think the post where someone signaled to their sig that had a picture of Floyd with "lesser player?" under it set a few people (myself included) off. Saying Floyd is better when he was 0-4....it was a very very very stupid post.
  16. 0-4, you friggin genius. I mean hoestly, let's face it, Dusty Baker ruined Matt Murton. I sincerely hope thats sarcasm.....Please let that be sarcasm. Actually, I agree. Dusty preached "aggressiveness" in the batters box, and Murton gradually began swinging at the first pitch. Dusty caused him to regress, but how can you say he's ruined with the year he had last year? I thought you were disagreeing about Dusty's impact. You're right, he's not "ruined", but he's having trouble getting back to his patient self, that's for sure. He seemed patient enough in ST. I think more blame goes to giving a young player such irregular AB's.
  17. Why is Murton pissing you off? Is it because he's been thrust only into end game situations as a young player against pitchers he's never faced in his only AB of the game? Is it because Lou is putting him in that spot? Is it because the Cubs system hates OBP and tries to remove that quality from his plate approach? Which one is it? Even when he has played and started this year he hasn't looked good. He doesn't do anyhting good besides being patient, and he hasnt even done that this year. I find it incredibly odd that a player that's been historically very patient, even in 500+ ML ABs under Dusty, is suddenly swinging at so many first pitches. I don't know what's going on, but I can't believe that he suddenly abandoned his patient approach. I would say its that fact that he doesn't get to play and he's trying to be aggressive and show what he can do.
  18. Two words.....Braden Looper that is all.
  19. and split. only because of the awesomeness that is Rich Hill Ted Lilly has given up a total of 3 runs in his last 2 starts and has lost both Yeah. But, what are you gonna do? This is what we get when we sign up to be Cubs fans. TED LILLY'S BRAIN: I have 3 years and 6 months more of this? Seriously, why would any decent player sign with the Cubs?
