  1. Holy Guacamole, Batman. CLSHS can't be more than 3 miles from my house. We definitely gotta beat this boy like a rented mule. !! Fred, we're neighbors...I work in Elgin (passes through Algonquin everyday to work) and live in Crystal Lake. Well, I certainly hope you wave as you're passing through. It's the neighborly thing to do, no? I go fishing out by Elgin and Algonquin all the time. I live in Cary. Work in the loop though :(
  2. Go get em Gooz! Keep the ball down, limit the free passes and rely on your stuff. You've worked your whole life for this moment, go after them early, make them hit your pitch and show everyone what you can do. All the rehab, all the training, all the days in the minors, you deserve this opportunity. I'm behind you, NSBB is behind you, the fans are behind you and the organization is behind you. I'm proud of you kid. Go get em.
  3. Why is he unable to do that in the majors? who says he can't? he had more good innings than bad when he was up last year. Consistancy is the issue I guess. and sample size. And more negroes. ?? Huh?
  4. I think I found my new nickname with the BeerBuddies: Barzilla!
  5. Rough day so far for The Riot: 0-3, popped out, hit into a force play, got doubled off first on a liner to short and one fielding error.
  6. Doesn't make any sense for Hill not to be part of the ML Cubs at this point. How he didn't get the nod over Guzman (pushed 1 day back instead of 3), I'll never know. I wonder if Guzman is up as a "show-me" in a trade scenario.
  7. Pulling a Matt Harrington http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/draft/news/261131.html I wonder if Hendry and Co. are paying any attention.
  8. Oh screw you, man. They were wining and didn't draw...and their fans are the greatest? I'm done with Jones  After a couple quotes and below average play ... 20 games into the season. Ok... So you weren't at all upset by those remarks? He knew the fans here could be rough especially since we've come to expect some success. You simply can't come to a city like Chicago and expect fans to forgive you when you perform poorly. He talked to Hawkins and knew the facts before he signed here. Now he blames the fans for not supporting him and implies that we're not here "through think and thin" like the Minny fans. The same Minny fans that support their teams so well that they were considered for contraction. A couple quotes indeed.
  9. Oh screw you, man. He feels like he can speak up now since he hit a game winning homer. Now that's class.
  10. Oh screw you, man. They were wining and didn't draw...and their fans are the greatest? I'm done with Jones
  11. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-060424cubsgamer,1,1981250.story?coll=cs-home-headlines Probably already posted, but I'm too lazy to read this whole thread. Bottom line is this: If Cub fans are booing you, there may be a good reason. It's wrong to assume that it's always someone else's problem. Perhaps fans are upset at the first pitch swinging, perhaps fans are upset at the failures of a ballplayer to even make contact in critical situations, perhaps fans are upset at your refusal to alter your approach. Comparing Cubs fans to Twin fans and implying that Cub fans are less knowledgeable is ABSOLUTELY NOT going to help. I understand a players frustration, but he needs to own something. I supported Jones until I read this article.
  12. I knew guys that tried it as well. Of the three, only one said he could control the ball better with something on his fingers. I never had good enough control to try it.
  13. Agreed and also the reason I thought the Miller pickup was an excellent move. When Dempster was signed, didn't he pitch very late in the year after rehab?
  14. Seriously, Ronnie Woo Woo is a total tool. A couple years ago I was at Murphy's after a game with some BeerBuddies. Ronnie Woo Woo comes over to the table and does his "Cubs Woo, Cubs Woo!" routine. As soon as he's done he asks us to buy him a beer. To which we said "Umm...no". He then moves on to the table next to us and does the same routine with the same result. He basically went around the bar doing the routine until someone bought him a beer. When he's done with his free beer, he starts all over again. Same night my friends and I had left Murphy's at a point and returned several hours later. Sure enough, there's Ronnie still doing the routine. The day for us was something like 14 hours of power drinking, Ronnie was doing his pathetic routine for free drinks the entire time. The guy is a complete loser.
  15. W. Tenn down 1-0 after 1 Chattanooga Bottom 1st * Norris Hopper walks. * Javier Colina singles on a fly ball to left fielder Gary CatesJr. Norris Hopper to 3rd. * Joey Votto called out on strikes. * Aaron Herr singles on a fly ball to center fielder Chris Walker. Norris Hopper scores. Javier Colina to 2nd. * Alex Sanchez grounds into a force out, first baseman Micah Hoffpauir to shortstop Carlos Rojas. Javier Colina to 3rd. Aaron Herr out at 2nd. Alex Sanchez to 1st. * With Jeff Bannon batting, Alex Sanchez steals (1) 2nd base. * Jeff Bannon strikes out swinging.
  16. Winning 4 of 6 to start the season against the Cards isn't bad. I'll take it.
  17. Someone had a sign yesterday that said "Benedict Mabry" so he isn't universally applauded. We also had Benedict Veres and we remember how that turned out. Double agent
  18. Agreed. The offense was asleep for 2 days
  19. Read my mind. Edmunds looks old. Rolen and his bad back would have to carry the offense.
