    ^I agree with you. Scully is fantastic but the one voice does get old. Maybe it's just because my whole life I've been used to hearing a PBP and a color guy. Overall, regardless of whether "protection" is a myth, Kent didn't need to be a jerk about it. I tended to take his side in the Bonds-Kent thing because I hate Bonds, but now I think I just hate Kent a little less.

    We're all going to have different anecdotal evidence like this, but in my far north suburban upbringing there was only one Sox fan among all the people I knew. And we made fun of him.

    The likelihood is that these announcers are broadcasting from a studio in New York. Pretty much every announcing duo I've heard - save for basketball, gymnastics and swimming - have been. I doubt this would be an exception. I have heard them say several times in other events that they are not on the site. I think it is accepted that it's fine if you aren't there as long as you tell the audience. I didn't hear these guys say they aren't there, but I may have missed it.

    The announcer says they are "packed into the seats" as they pan across rows upon rows of empty seats. Nice. I wonder if these guys are in a studio in New York. Brings back to mind the empty seat issue. Saw an article on Drudge this past weekend saying that the Chinese initially didn't sell all the available tickets (though they publicly said every ticket was sold) because they didn't want to deal with the crowds. So then they realized the PR issue and started busing people into the venues. What a bunch of goobers.

    This really bothers you? I don't really care what they do, Kaman has a right to play for Germany. I don't look at it as being a traitor or anything of that nature, he's just doing what's best for himself. I'd do the same thing if I were in his position. Call me old-fashioned, but I think if there is anything left in sports that isn't about "doing what's best for" oneself, it's the olympics. The olympics are about representing your country with pride and distinction. Otherwise, athletes may as well just go to the highest bidder.

    WGN airs more Cubs games than Sox games, I believe, which defrays that difference. I know, but we are talking about CSN. I was just saying that if indeed CSN did have a Sox bias (which again, I don't think they do), it might be because they air more Sox games and therefore presumably have an interest in giving them more press.

    That's a good thing, no matter what team it is. I wish KC and some other "smaller markets" would experience what Milwaukee has done. That said, I hope they get their behinds handed to them tonight. EDIT: I was wondering if this was still in effect.     I've never perceived any bias. I find that they lead Sportsnite, Rise, etc., with the Cubs and the Sox pretty evenly. As for the features, again, I haven't noticed anything. CSNC does air more Sox games than Cubs games, but then, CSNC is partially owned by the Cubs. I think it's a wash.

    I didn't care much at first about this thing where people are playing for other countries in the olympics, but this Kaman thing pisses me off. You shouldn't get to go play for another country just because you aren't good enough to make your own team. That's not how it works. If you have dual citizenship, or perhaps even if your parents were born in a country, that's fine. But this cherry picking is ridiculous. If you aren't good enough to make your own team, then you should be SOL. The blind ambition of some folks is galling.

    Same here, Ron NEEDS to see the Cubs win a World Series before he goes, granted I also hope he lives 100 more years. Same goes for my dad. He's the reason I'm a Cub fan. He's getting up there in age, has lots of health problems, and is slowly going blind. I want it more for him than anyone else. My Dad follows the Cubs quietly for most of the season, but it's funny to watch him when they are in the race. He called me yesterday and asked if I had seen "Cubs Forever." Then he rattles off all these memories he has and says, "we have to get to Wrigley before the end of the year!" We both live 300 miles from Chicago, in opposite directions. But I'm going to try to make it happen. And as for Ronnie, it wouldn't be right for him to leave us without two things: his HOF induction and a championship. With any luck (okay, with lots of luck), both will happen in the next 12 months.
