  1. R-Dub is still in the NFL. That's funny to me. Is Fast Willie Harris out there somewhere too?
  2. maybe both It has to be both, but the Giants look pretty darn good. The O-line is doing great and Eli looks very comfortable.
  3. Didn't Arizona do a decent job of selling baseball to an area full of retired Cubs/everyone else fans? I get that Phoenix is a bigger metro area, and perhaps has more lifelong residents than retirees (though there are a ton of old folk), but still. It's all in the execution, and it's obviously been botched in south Florida.
  4. Gotcha. Not sure I believe that, but at least I understand now what you were saying.
  5. They knew what they were doing when they gave the franchise to Loria. This was exactly what was supposed to happen. I don't follow.
  6. And winner of the "taking it too far award goes to..." :) You suck at quotation marks You suck at not offending AIDS patients You're not supposed to suck at that?
  7. What I'm surprised about is that MLB didn't see this coming. Don't they do some kind of research before they award an expansion franchise, other than looking at the size of the media market? The team has to go. Anyone who would invest in building a new stadium for that team is foolish. The fan support obviously isn't there. There are places that can support a losing team. Cincy seems to draw decent, for one. Even KC is keeping it's head above water. And there are cities that could support a team. We've discussed that here before. If OKC can get an NBA team, smaller cities like it can support baseball.
  8. This is pretty bad. It's like some 14-year old Cardinal fan is writing these headlines.
  9. But they obviously don't seem very concerned about making us Howry our pants. They knew yesterday this wasn't a big deal, and didn't let on anything until today. I guess waiting for the MRI results is wise though.
  10. I wouldn't imagine pitching a tent with a cup on is a lot of fun.
  11. Says Hendry in the Trib article. So, no Howry on the playoff roster then?
  12. They just put up a new story: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-080904-chicago-cubs-carlos-zambrano,0,1290265.story
  13. huh? All I'm saying is, if Z isn't 100%, which he probably won't be, is that still better than Lilly when it comes to the NLDS? I gotcha! Lilly's going to pitch somewhere in the series. Okay, then yeah, it doesn't matter.
  14. The Trib online still only has Van [expletive]'s story from just before midnight last night. That's pretty bad.
  15. I agree. But once we get into the playoffs, and especially if it gets deep in the NLCS again, I don't care if these guys' arms fall off. Seriously, I would trade Z and Harden for a championship. I'd trade my left testicle for a championship. Pretty much.

  18. The question is going to be, basically, whether Z with an inflamed rotator cuff something or other is better than a 100% Lilly.
  19. We're treating this as good news. But check out the lede from the ESPN article:
  20. That's a big relief, if it actually plays out that way.
  21. Bears secondary is very overrated. They are better underneath where Marvin is likely to be hanging out, but I'd still go with him.
  22. Well, I've got two responses that differ. So I guess it is a question. Maroney then?
  23. At least they aren't limiting sales to Illinois and NW Indiana people like the Bears did. I don't have time for that VWR madness, so I'm fine with this. I either get them or I don't.
