  1. Oh no, they wouldn't have to fly anywhere! Ridiculous. How about the disadvantage of having to be in St. Louis for 6 straight days? Yeah, that's rough. I've been in St. Louis for 6 years! Argh. EDIT: I'd also like to point out that the Trib has nothing new up about what might happen this weekend. Are we awake, Mr. Sullivan?
  2. Oh no, they wouldn't have to fly anywhere! Ridiculous. What if they just take off, circle around Missouri for a while, then land? =D> Brilliant!

  4. I hope. I'm thinking back to that St. Louis article about Houston balking at the proximity of St. Louis to Chicago. If the games were to be moved, I guess that would mean KC or Atlanta? Those are pretty even. It's a stupid reason, especially if you're trying to increase revenue.
  5. Well, now the radar doesn't look so "scattered." Pretty much all of southwest and west central MO is getting it right now, it appears. If that rolls in, we could be in trouble.
  6. Well, they've already sold all the tickets. So long as they play an official game, they don't have to refund the money. No matter that there will be nobody there. If I was an Astros fan I'd be livid and probably less likely to go to games in the future due to their selfish behavior. Of course if the MLB just sucked it up and gave the Astros the money they would have gotten from the series, they could move it elsewhere and everything would be fine. Is there an Astros equivalent to NSBB? I wonder what they have to say.

  8. And here we are, still no official word. This is ridiculous. The city is evacuating for a major hurricane. There isn't going to be anyone back in town by Sunday. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
  9. Weather.com still says scattered showers all night. Right now there is total cloud cover but it's pretty bright out. 79. There shouldn't be a problem getting this one in tonight, even if there is an occasional storm.
  10. I don't see any reason for retaliation, but you never know what's going on in TLR's very strange head. I think it would be a fine job for someone like Wells. But I don't want any player who will be participating in the playoffs for us being part of any shenanigans. Too important to waste on these goofballs.
  11. With rain in the forecast and the Cards out of it, not surprising.
  12. Heard the same report. A Double Header on Sunday and 3rd game on Monday. We will know for sure what's going to happen in a little less than an hour supposedly. This is fine, but won't the Cubs have trouble getting into Houston if they stay away until Saturday night. I guess the Cubs would still have to go to Houston tonight and ride out the storm all weekend waiting to play on Sunday. What are we going to do with ourselves on Friday and Saturday? AHHHH! Seriously, this sucks.
  13. Honestly, that does make a lot of sense having them play at a neutral stadium. I don't think it does. They need to do something that generates revenue. That will not happen at a neutral site. Play it in Chicago, sell out games, let Houston bat 2nd and take home the gross profits. What kind of crowds did the games at Comiskey draw a few years ago? How did they price the tickets? I think St. Louis would draw pretty well, with baseball fans both here and all the local Cub fans.
  14. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/stories.nsf/cardinals/story/97A7249A7F213211862574C1005666F0?OpenDocument Apparently it won't be St. Louis for this weekend.
  15. Give the guy a chance to make his decision before you start calling for his job.
  16. Sounds like to me the Astros are playing hardball here. They want their money.
  17. It sure looks gloomy out there right now, but it's still early. I got a couple of raindrops on my windshield on the way in, but that was it. I'll post an update on "conditions on the ground" later this afternoon. I feel like Geraldo.
  18. No question, if they choke again, Yost is gone. Make the playoffs, he gets another 3-4 years. They haven't seen playoff baseball in 26 years, so just getting there is a pretty big deal. And the way that team handles pressure, I wouldn't give them a chance against anyone in the first round.
  19. DEFENDING CHAMP is in. \:D/
  20. Everybody thinking about heading down there, just be safe. I know you'll be out some cash and all, but that stuff is dangerous. I know I don't have to tell you that. Selfishly, I'd be fine with the games being played in St. Louis.
  21. I thought this photo was from Hot Chicks with Douchebags for a second. Then I realized it was Cuban. My fault, Mark. Please still buy the Cubs. In other news, let's get a win tonight. I'll be out there in what looks like will be rain, rooting on the fellas. So rock on Harden.
  22. I'm not even happy. Just relieved. Now, to honor my attendance tomorrow night, let's get the series win!
