  1. Sounds on the radio like there are a lot of Bear fans there. Excellent D so far.
  2. What a start! Limited to online radio for this one, unfortunately.
  3. I haven't read or seen that anywhere. The last we had in this thread was the blog entry from WGN saying they were waiting on word from MLB and ESPN. I sure hope you're right...
  4. A game thread! A game to watch! Holy Howry! Hopefully I'll be watching. Go Cubs! And go chorizo in the sausage race!
  5. That's good news, to my mind. He works well with Len and at least once a game says something that makes me laugh out loud.
  6. So, the options for tv tonight are: 1) Black out everything, including mlb.tv 2) No tv, mlb.tv and radio only 3) Let them show game on WGN Chicago and mlb.tv 4) Let them show game on WGN America and mlb.tv I doubt they would black out mlb.tv, but I won't be surprised at all if we get no tv or the game is on only in Chicago. I understand ESPN not wanting 90% of their audience watching WGN. Just hoe they leave mlb.tv alone.
  7. I posted it on the last page, or you can just go to the Brewers website. so it took me a while to finish typing that and submit. GET OFF MY BACK ALREADY!!! I've already spent a grand this weekend on a lot of crap I probably didn't need. is a trip to Milwaukee the right thing to do? I wasn't trying to be a jerk at all. And yeah, it is the right thing to do. I would if I could. I know, I was just busting your balls. I'm staring at 2 Field Infield Box seats right behind home plate, row 9... #-o I don't always pick up on that.... You guys all have fun tomorrow night. Hopefully I'll be watching either on TV or 'net.
  8. Just now? I just looked and can only get singles Could they possibly have sold all those tickets already? If so, I will admit to being wrong and they were justified in charging premium prices. They are talking about Tuesday night at Wrigley.

  10. That's my biggest question/concern right now.
  11. In light of UM's most recent post, I'm retracting the first sentence of this. Wow. Talk about gouging. Yeah, that pricing is ridiculous when we're dealing with a less than 24 hour window requiring people to make plans on short notice... but I wonder if it was part of the agreement with Houston that they wanted to charge top dollar to maximize their revenue. Why is it gouging? It is the same as they would charge for other games at the stadium. I don't see why they would feel it necessary to give a discounted price. Not like anyone is forced to go if they don't want to and/or can't afford it. Because it's exceptionally late notice. Of course nobody is forced to go. That's hardly the point. Someone here said last year when they hosted an Indians-Angels series, tickets were $10. So, here, they saw an opportunity to make more money off the Cub fans. That's gouging. Gouging would be charging over the normal price for a ticket. So if this game had been announced 3 months ago as some kind of neutral site special event it would have been ok to charge these prices? I don't get it. Clearly they charged $10 last year because a) very few people from Cleveland or LA were going to travel to see the game and b) it was an early season contest and the interest wasn't as high. In this case they don't have to lowball the price to get a reasonable amount of fans in the seats so why would they? You do know that MLB is a for profit business, right? I remember getting tickets to the '98 one game playoff and there was no discounted pricing even though it was "exceptionally late notice". What is "normal" under the circumstances? I would say it's the last time they had such a make-up game involving two teams from other cities. Deviating from that norm simply because it's the Cubs is what I have a problem with, and that's clearly what is going on here.

Call it what you want, but they'd be stupid to charge less when they know people would pay more. I won't disagree with that. But I think these prices will discourage a lot of people from going.

  15. http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/mlb/ticketing/y2008/cubs_astros_hurricane.jsp?c_id=mil This is where I went.
  16. Of course I'm not going up there, but just for grins I just went to the ticket purchase page. Best available was third-row, right behind home plate. Price was $140. So I don't know what the deal is with this.
  17. In light of UM's most recent post, I'm retracting the first sentence of this. Wow. Talk about gouging.
  18. Whatever the price is, I'm sure it won't be high enough to deter anyone from going who can. It's going to be surreal...but really cool if we can pack a good crowd in there.
  19. That's what I figured they would do. Maybe $10 for lower level and $5 for upper. Something like that. I'll be very interested to see what kind of crowd gets up there...
  20. Wish I could go. Now I just hope there is no mlb.tv blackout. I mean, if the game isn't on WGN.
  21. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/ Tomorrow night in Milwaukee at 7:05, then Monday at 1:05.
  22. St. Louis forecast is 80% chance of "heavy" rain all day tomorrow, so I'm sure we're out as a possibility. EDIT: At this point, what they really need to do is figure out where they can play the DH on Monday. Then they are only left worrying about making up one game at the end of the season. And the chances that extra game will be needed are greatly reduced. It would make sense if they have already agreed on no game tomorrow and are just trying to figure out where to play Monday. But I wish they would just announce that. Doesn't seem like it should be that difficult.
  23. Does it really make sense to mess with another series to help out this one? Seems like your breaking one thing to fix another.
  24. If there is no game tomorrow, this will be an out and out travesty.
