  1. Yes they did. And it was glorious. It's great when even good ole Rat Face's whining can't make a difference for them. I hate him more than anyone in college basketball I'm upset I missed the actual game
  2. Where are you moving the thread?
  3. Wow Duke got spanked
  4. Yeah I heard that on the score....There my pic for today
  5. Veterans Committee. Well, at least Purdue only loses Calasan and Green after this season. Scott Martin would be a big help right about now. Yes he would. I was never happy about his decision to leave. Even with a healthy Hummel (that sounds dirty to me for some reason), Martin would have added much needed depth to this team. I personally thought Martin would have become a better player than Hummel....Same size and basically the same at everything except that is left handed and mama's boy
  6. We lost to probably 3rd or 4th best team in the Big Ten in my eyes. We did that without Hummel, on the road, and in OT....I'm not to worried about it hurting our chances, but Hummel needs to get healthy
  7. That's a winnable game
  8. C'mon Miguel. You're kidding yourself here. First of all, we'd be worse if we didn't make a single move, if only for the fact that we will be expected regress in quite a few areas next season. We weren't a 97 win team heading into the offseason and we certainly aren't one heading out of the offseason. Let's look branch by branch. 1.) Kevin Gregg to Kerry Wood This is a pretty poor downgrade. We go from one of the top ten relievers in the game, who's a good health guy at this point (shove it naysayers you're wrong) and go from a guy, who if we stretched it, would barely qualify among that top fifty relievers in the game. You could make a case for him being outside the top 100 if you wanted to. In the greater scheme of things, it probably costs a few runs in high leverage situations, thanks to Gregg being in the game in the seventh and eighth with a tough jam instead of Carlos Marmol. 2.) DeRosa and Edmonds to Miles and Bradley Well if you throw defense out the window, I'm not sure how you come to the conclusion that we're any better. Mark DeRosa was very very very very very productive last season and Aaron Miles is Neifi Perez without the defense. Sure Bradley's better than Edmonds, except for the fact that Bradley's probably going to get hurt and Edmonds (and the Cubs CFers in general) produced top five centerfield numbers for the Cubs last season. We got a TON of production out of center field last year. The way I see it, Fukudome goes to center, and we still get Fukudome. So we're replacing our CF production with Milton Bradley, and giving Bradley just 500 PAs instead of 650 is a wash. Signing Bradley only let's us keep the offensive production we got in center last year - not improve on it. Our overall team defense might improve in the outfield, as Edmonds was a tree in center, but so is Bradley. I am really seeing these moves as lateral at best and more expensive. I think any improvement we're going to get is going to be from resurgent Derrek Lee and Kosuke Fukudome campaigns, as both players (especially KF) played well below their potential in 2008. 3.) Marquis to Heilman There's no improvement here. We're the same. Marquis and Heilman are interchangeable and this is another lateral move, albeit a cheaper-ish one cash wise. Heilman may end up with a slightly better RA, but the difference is made up in Marquis' elite SP bat, similar to Fat Z. 4.) Harden It's Harden, not Hardin. He's already hurt, to expect more than we got last year is foolish. 5.) Gaudin blows. Shark is good unless he remembers that he doesn't get whiffs. Guzman's an unknown at this point. I do think there's a chance he's the number five by May in the current setup. 1.) Kevin Gregg to Kerry Wood This is a pretty poor downgrade. We go from one of the top ten relievers in the game, who's a good health guy at this point (shove it naysayers you're wrong) Hmmm, something tells me the month-long sabbatical Wood took last year was closer to resting shoulder tendinitis than healing a blister. Don't get me wrong, if that's what Wood has to do each year, I'd still be in favor of him, but that's hardly a good health guy. You also mention the natural regression that will occur from 2008 but you cite the 2008 numbers when countering the 2009 additions. Seems contradicting. Wood was decent last year...good god stop overrating like we gave up Dennis Eckersley at his prime. He was not that good last year and it's not going to hurt us that much
  9. Ha someone who actually agrees with me....Why the love for Wuertz?
  10. They're like 29 in the AP poll. They still got a decent outside shot at the Big Ten Title Schedule's too tough down the stretch. for the regular season title, absolutely. i'd be thrilled with a first round by in the BTT though You do have a tough stretch, but who knows most of the those tough games are against the teams that are higher than you

  12. PSU really impressed me in that game, I knew Battle was good, but man that was a fun game to watch and now were tied for first!
  13. What? I just watched it and what could he have possibly been saying to upset the ref so much to kick a mascot out of a game? He headbutted the official. Oh ha I didn't see that. I thought he was just jawing at him or something
  14. I don't understand why they do it, but it's the way they are always picked...I personally think it should be the best player, but there team being competitive always is factored in

  16. Your team usually has to be, you know, good to win Big Ten POY. If Harangody leads the Big East in scoring and rebounding again (he's doing both rather easily right now) and doesn't win Big East POY, I'll be pissed regardless of ND's standing, and I'd imagine the same applies to Harris and UM. If Harris proves to be the best player, he should win the award. If not they should change it to conference MVP and be done with it. That said, I'm sure someone will prove to be at least as deserving for a more competitive team. Depends on who finishes where obviously. If Purdue finishes top 3 I could see Hummel or Johnson winning it. Johnson has been the best center in the Big Ten (16th in points, 11th in rebounds, 3rd in FG%, 1st in blocks). Meanwhile Hummel is still putting up very good numbers despite playing with a bad back and not practicing a single day since December. Plus he has the preseason player of the year going for him. People could vote for him because it makes them look good for picking him in the preseason. Right now I would vote for Harris but there isn't a clear cut definite favorite. i dont think you can be 16th in points and be BTPOY. haha, well that objectivity for ya. but, in actuality, i think the whole purdue team deserves to win it, and i assume that they will. Agreed, actually on second thought I am going to give it to Matt Painter's mole in a tight race over Thad Matta's mole. Cubbiebum, how about cause Robbie can't sniff Manny Harris. That a good enough reason for you? How about because he is less valuable to his team than Kevin Coble is to Northwestern? Again Michigan sucks so that's why Robbie Hummel or JaJuan Johnson could both still have a shot at BTPOY....Harris is a much better player, but his team sucks just like Manning winning the MVP it matters how your teams doing and not just your numbers
  17. Picked the Heat for tonight

Harris for sure is the front runner right now, but it's not a lock
  19. Can someone tell me why Gillispie was fouling Ole Miss when they were down by 11 at like 35 sec were left? I felt like he was just trying to improve Meeks numbers
  20. I could be wrong, but I feel like the year they changed the rules the scores went wayyyyy up and then they've gone down a little bit since that year. I think that was 3 years ago? Yeah, that's the way it felt to me too. I couldn't watch hockey the year it came back. It felt too artificial. Like basketball on skates. It was the first yeah we had the Boulin-wall ha he wasn't much of a wall that year though! I totally agree though I couldn't watch it then

  22. I don't know if this a dumb question, but in games like that how bad is the goalie? I can understand even 5 goals, but 10? It has to be a combination of everything. In that game the Hawks played against Edmonton, everything was clicking AND the goalie wasn't tip-top. Plus, in both that game and the one last night (and in pretty much every game where more than 6 goals are scored) more than one goalie was in on the action. So you have to think it's more the offense and a lack of effort from the defense. K I figured it was probably 2 goalies to, but it's just insane to see a score like that on Sportscenter like once a month

  24. Good luck winning at Illinois.......that is unless we go into the "I'm pretty sure we're going to win but let's see how close we can make it" offense at the end of the game with a lead. UI almost gave the game against Wisky back because of it. Wow after beating us in overtime you seem a little confident? Purdue has won there last 3 away games....Any who I'll be there to cheer on my Boilermakers and see another big win on the road...Hopefully haha Illinois has won their last 8 home games, and their last 2 against Purdue. who cares it's not like were IU or Iowa though...I guarantee you this game will be within 6 points either way
