  1. I have a better chance of getting a hit than Swanson and I’m almost 60 years old and couldn’t hit in little league.
  2. On the Marquee pre game show Cliff Floyd said a Cubs coach told him if they got 12 outs from Boyd they’d be in great shape and if they got 15 they’d be in really great shape. He’s close to the 12.
  3. It won’t be Assad. He’s not on the roster.
  4. Loveland over Warren looking pretty awful early on.
  5. Yeah. Missed the three in May.
  6. 7/9 is still pretty weird. In fact, they only play each other three times until that stretch!
  7. The thing with Cohen is he is a fill in. They aren’t going to get a major market guy for just 25 games or whatever (I know it was a few more this year because Boog was sick earlier in the season). But if they had to replace Boog the pool of candidates would be so much bigger and they would have the ability to get one of the top candidates in the game, and not a minor league announcer working as a fill in. This has been a great opportunity for Cohen but I’d be shocked (and super disappointed) if they were planning on him being the heir apparent. My guess is that Cohen takes this opportunity and turns it in to a full time gig with a team like the Reds, Pirates, A’s, Royals, or some other smaller and less iconic franchise.
  8. I think there is zero chance Cohen would get the job if Boog left. And why would Boog leave just because ESPN isn’t doing games?
  9. He’s terrible. He sounds like a minor league announcer (which he is) trying too hard to be cute, clever, and fun. He may be good in time, but he should be honing his skills in a market much smaller than Chicago.
  10. Yeah, that was happening when my kids played and they are now in their mid and late 20s.
  11. How in the hell does a team go into a two month slump three seasons in a row?
  12. It seems like the Cubs never try to steal anymore. They are way more passive on the base paths than they were. You’d think they’d keep running with the offense scuffling so badly.
  13. I live in Indy and Jed reminds me so much of Colts GM Chris Ballard. Always preaching discipline In making deals. Set a price and don’t go over in free agency. Set a price for trades and don’t go over that. Discipline, discipline, discipline. Colts are perennially a .500 team now. Not being willing to lose a deal is a clear path to mediocrity.
  14. I feel like I just watched them blow a ninth inning lead.
  15. Yeah I’ve not been one of those fans who say Tucker is for sure gone after the year. I thought they had a legit chance of keeping him. But today showed me they don’t expect him to be here.
  16. Well holy hell.
  17. Last season the Cubs wore those uniforms was 1981. First season for Sandberg on the Cubs was 1982.
  18. They don’t show the front, but the back of the jersey looks like those.
  19. I’m not sure Sandberg ever played in the pinstripe baby blues. I think they had stopped wearing them before he arrived.
  20. Doesn’t show the front but it looks old school to me. Still has the Motorola patch, of course, but seemed like the early 80s beyond that.
  21. So now we are back to trade talk someplace other than transactions?
  22. Not only that, but Law didn’t even have Caissie in his Top 60. So anyone who thinks Alcantara is clearly considered the worst prospect is under appreciating him.
