  1. I don't know why you WOULDN'T try to keep Wieters at C. There are a couple of bigger catcdhers out there now (granted nothing as big as he is) but big enough. I think he could certainly handle it for a while. Maybe he has to move out after a few years, but that's about it. He'll play in the majors at C for at least his first few years IMO.
  2. On the brightside, the D-Rays love RAW, PROJECTABLE high school guys. I could certainly see them going with Harvey based on their trackrecord (if they went pitcher). And MS has just absurd stuff, wouldn't shock me if he found his way into the top 3, and Brackman will probably be higher than Price on somebody's board, meaning that Price does have a shot to fall to 3.
  3. Price is very very good. That's all that needs to be said.
  4. Now I'm planning on hiring security to make sure neither of you are allowed to come to the victory parade. And no a groucho marx disguise won't do it.
  5. David told me he is indeed starting one of the games today...if they play at all. There was basically a blizzard going on down there last night.
  6. What is this in reference to? That fact that I've met, hung out with and spent time with David Price and still talk to him every once in a while. He's a very humble human being. He doesn't even like the spotlight.
  7. There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY I see David Price being that guy and tryign to dick over Major League teams.
  8. Interesting, who would you take as the top pick? Oh I'd still take Price #1. His stuff is too fantastic to pass up on. Just saying he's not really as perfect as some might make him out to be. But he's also a great character guy and a lefty, both huge pluses.
  9. To be fair, while I absolutely LOVE David Price as a person and as a college pitcher, he's not as ML ready of a prospect as one might thing for someone as polished as he is. His mechanics need alot of work, he has an odd dip in his delivery and has way too much unnecessary movement in his windup. Also his off speed pitches really are not all that developed and his changeup is way too hard to be effective.
  10. Cole told me he's all good. He's been workin on it since december and says he's just waiting until he's pain free, but he told me not to worry about him.
  11. In other news, Rice studs Cole St. Clair and Joe Savery are both still injured. Savery's still recovering from off season shoulder surgury and Cole told me he hurt himself lifting weights.
  12. I would highly doubt the Marlins deal Willis without getting a P of Sanchez's caliber AND a full time major league CF. Cabrera is not a CF so I don't see that deal happening.
  13. I know that the Red Sox are interested. They could really use him too. Play him at 2B and put Pedroia at SS.
  14. I just talked to Cole, he said he's "only" back to being the best closer in the nation (my words not his) instead of being in the rotation (where he really wants to be). Don't think this will really hurt his draft stock at all though. But still, figured I'd post it here for everyone to see. Especially KC since he has some Rice connections.
  15. With Pavano you can throw most of his stats out cause he was really only healthy for 2 or 3 of his seasons.
  16. Meche could be a fantastic addition in the NL. Look at Chris Carpenter. He was terrible in Toronto...but had great stuff (like Meche)....and became a Cy Young guy in the NL.
  17. His career ERA+ is 101. That just defines mediocre.
  18. so the teams were even and one edged out the other. where was the fluke? The fluke is the luck that White Sox had by not hitting the ball hard at all and still taking the sweep. The Astros were hitting rockets at people with RISP. The chances of that kind of luck going 4 straight games is very unlikely.
  19. I agree with that 100%. Pavano is actually a family friend and I was very dissapointed he took less money to go to the Yanks (the b*tch wanted him there, but then she got cold feet about marriage and dumped him....serves him right lol) but I just hope some NL team takes a shot at him and he gets back to doin what he does.
  20. I wouldn' be shocked if the Sox did take back Jones...and put him in CF.
  21. Last year was a fluke. Those games were decided by a couple inches. Every single damn one of them. That was two incredibly even teams: one getting all the luck, blooping in dumpers to score, and one getting none, hitting rockets right at people.
  22. Do you guys think you'd have any interest in Mike Lowell? I'm sure the Sox would be willin to eat a few million for one of those bullpen guys.
  23. I mean trying to not go out and sign an ace and instead try to patch together a staff with a few mediocre starters (signing Clement and Wells for basically the same amount as re-signing Pedro) and overpaying for mediocre pitching. What a terrible off season that was btw: Russ Ortiz Carl Pavano Matt Clement Horrible Horrible signings. You CANNOT CANNOT CANNOT overpay for mediocre pitching. You're better off saving your money and buying a better bullpen and more offense than paying Jeff Suppan $30 million.
  24. I agree, as a Red Sox fan this is very distrubing. The Sox need some pitching but you're gonna be payin through the nose for...Jeff Suppan? No freakin way. This is gonna be an ugly off season. Hopefully Theo learned his lesson about trying to go bargain basement on SPs (cough cough Matt Clement cough cough).
  25. First of all I'm a Red Sox fan but: 1) I would love to have Dempster in the Sox pen right now. 2) I know Burrell came up as a 3B, so I would think that maybe he could be tried out as a 1B (not an option for the cubs I konw) but since he's such a bad OF, I think the Sox should take a chance and see if he can move to 1B.
