Yeah, his .230 .329 .295 .624 line in September is just peachy keen. Play La Stella or Happ at 2B if Baez on the bench; Zobrist serves no purpose except to age slightly closer to inevitable death. Yes, monthly splits are going to look bad when you have a rough 10 day stretch. Zobrist works counts as well as anyone on the team(something that is underappreciated this year relative to past seasons) and the alternatives all have flaws/worries too. It's an imperfect puzzle of like 8 guys for 4 spots, you're going to be making different tradeoffs no matter what you choose. Also, not even Baez would have gotten Broxton at 1B on that play last inning. Monthly spits are also going to look bad when you've had as bad a season as Zobrist has. Yeah, he's been injured, and he's still not looking that great because of it. I don't think he brings enough to the table right now to justify starting him this much over the three other 2B options they have, and DEFINITELY not batting him in the middle of the damn lineup. The comment on his defense isn't just over a single play; at best his defense breaks even with La Stella. I get that they wanted to see if he'd bounce back, but hey, he really didn't. Fortunately they've got other options.
