Yes, I enjoyed watching this awesome basketball game very much, thanks for asking.

That's why I keep asking if BR's numbers are any good; they seemingly have these cumulative rating and value stats, but are they just bunk at this point? From a purely subjective meatball standpoint, I picked half a dozen "best NBA players of all time" lists from within the last two years byt recognizable sites/magazines/channels, and literally all of them, oddly, had Wade and Pippen at about 25-24, with Pippen coming out just ahead.

And yet again all of the good stuff happens when I go to the gym or go running and can't watch. I'm gonna look like a horsefeathering Adonis by the end of the season if this holds true.

Again, I don't know what BasR's rep is, but going by them Love has managed to have one peak Pippen-level season so far. And they seemingly have Pippen, at worst, being only a bit better than Wade.

[expletive], when is this ever going to show up. I'm looking like a bum not having gotten my dad a birthday/retirement gift.

Is Basketball Reference worth a damn? Because they have Pippen as obviously better than both (I mean, Love? Come on).

You guys are flat out nuts if you don't think all of those markets don't have terrible, obsessive sports media out the wazoo. Atlanta's got three miserable sports radio stations just like the Vaunted Chicago Sports Market. Florida has three dozen(!!!!) sports stations. California has twenty seven. Illinois? Only a whopping fifteen, less than the twenty that can be found here in Virginia. Hello from Orange County, California. We've got 3 million people. We've got two sports radio stations, but they rarely run local content. It's almost always national syndicated stuff until it's time for an Angels or Ducks, and then they get a pre-game show of one or two hours. It's all generic PR stuff. The teams sell enough tickets and do enough TV ratings to keep the lights on, but it's not something the whole area gets caught up in. If there's some frothing racist Kaplan equivalent waiting for Otani to fall apart, I haven't run across them. Hi from Northern Virginia! I can give you years of reading on all of the local hot takes just on the Redskins name alone. When you're finished with that, I've got a heaping helping of scintillating analysis of Bryce Harper and the problems with his attitude, how he plays, his injuries, his hair, etc., etc.. Then we tackle Strasburg and how weak/fragile he apparently is. Then we can back up the trucks to get the takes about how the Capitals are world class choke artists and don't have the guts or the mental makeup to win. Then we can cry about the Wizards and their immaturity or their lack of a leader or their criminally bad FO/ownership, or still bemoaning everything that happened to the bizarre mid 2000's team. I mean, I know it's just a fly by night podunk operation that can't compare to the sound and fury of the PASSION of Chicago sports media, but hey, they try! Seriously; the idea that Chicago is some kind of clear leader or model in the world of terrible sports takes is the weirdest bit of self-loathing bragging I've ever seen.

In terms of jackhole local newspaper humps, bloggers and radio/TV guys looking to fill space/time? Absolutely. Obviously nobody was talking about in the context of how many people regularly show up to the games, so that was just a pointless tangent to begin with. All of these markets, however, have obsessive local media outlets picking over the local teams and players. Chicago is nothing special in that regard, and it's an absurdly lame bit of masochistic egotism to think so. I mean, what the heck do you guys think the (actually) four sports stations in Atlanta talk about? "Uhm, I dunno...maybe we'll talk about sports eventually. Does anyone else really like Coke and flying on Delta?" they may be there but i'm not sure a lot of people are listening or caring. goff used to work in that market and said it was a completely different animal. I'm pretty sure four hideous sports stations in a single city with a metro population of only around 5 million people aren't just existing in a type of howling, empty void.

There are a lot of big cities that care far less about sports than Chicago. In California, for example. yeah, that was a weird question. florida too, obviously. just look at how easily cubs fans can get into road playoff games usually too. atlanta couldn't sell out damn playoff games. I guess. Just seems like the lack of mental fortitude, gutless choking dog, big softy, Yu articles are everywhere by these idiots which seems a bit over the line to me to be pushing such nonsense narratives. And these guys were building in that stuff to their stories from spring for the “fans” who read them to jump all over him the first sign of trouble. That's exactly what the DC area is inundated with here, too. It's everywhere.

I don't see how that's different than every other sports market. Horrible local sports media is inescapable.
