  1. There's a gaping hole in this thread.
  2. Jeez...imagine if Aramis was back to his usual self while Lee and Fukudome are raking.
  3. What are you basing this on? Outside of Gallagher and Pie, Murton's name is the only one that's come up as a Cubs "young player" that multiple teams are definitely interested in.
  4. Except hit home runs and play average defense. Murton knows he needs to do this to play everyday in the bigs. Unfortunately he just can't. Wow, you're just knocking them out of the park left and right today. What do you think is the real reason Murton isn't starting or in the bigs? Does Jim Hendry not like red heads? He's not starting because he can only play the corners and we have Fukudome and Soriano. He's not in the bigs because the Cubs haven't traded him yet.
  5. I find you odd. Since when did asking a guy to hustle make anyone odd? It's odd dwelling on a ridiculous and subjective intangable over the actual concrete production a player accomplishes.

  8. Is there a specific speed at which one crosses the line from "loafing" to "hustle?" Yes. It's like the difference in speed when you hit and home run and when you hit a double and run in to second. Soriano runs like he hits a homerun whether he hits a double or is running for a ball down the line or in a gap. Ramirez has this problem too. He started to hustle early last year, but then decided that he will get paid regardless. See his home run, I mean double last series. Are you seriously saying that Aramis would have had a triple off of that hit if he "hustled?"

  10. Yep. He is so overmatched at the plate it's comical at times. The question now is do you keep him with the big league team and give him a start every 10 games or so and let him be a late inning defensive replacement or send him down and let him work on shortening his swing? I know, I know...he crushes AAA pitching and has nothing more to prove. Clearly he does have more to prove because nothing he did down there is translating here and now. i know he's been bad. but can you really give up on him 2 weeks into the season? if he's struggling like this in june, then i'd look for some other solutions. No one is giving up on him, but he has to EARN a job, it cant just be given to him....the best player has to play and he isnt the best yet How is he supposed to EARN it by riding pine after only two weeks or sporadic starts?
  11. The thread title is ironic, since creating the DH is the softest thing baseball has ever done.
  12. Love the anti-logic of "helping" a player who is "overmatched" by benching him. What is he gonna learn through, osmosis? Magic?
  13. Completely self-defeating thinking. If a prospect isn't an immediate success in the majors, they can't play? This seems like exactly the kind of detrimental mentality that has helped the Cubs not develop more players internaly.

People are talking like it's two weeks until the end of the season as opposed to just two weeks into it and Pie hasn't had all that many AB's. There should be zero question what to do with him...how is he supposed to adjust and step up if he doesn't get regular playing time? It's a painful process, but it has to be done to see if he can make the jump. If the Cubs aren't even going to bother to do that for at least a couple months, just give up on him now and trade him while he was value instead of dumping off yet another prospect they've screwed up.
  15. For the time being. He's not gonna shake it unless he gets consistent starts aainst all righties the Cubs face.
  16. Someone needs to leave Pie's swing alone and give him two months of starting without being yanked after every 0-for-4. so ship him off to the D-Rays or Royals is what you're saying? Or better yet...Iowa? He doesn't deserve 2 months of sucking. Especially considering how inconsistent this line up can be as it is. Actually, there's zero reason that Cubs shouldn't be able to handle Pie's development, even if it basically takes an entire season to figure out whether or not he can click. A player with as much potential as Pie has, as young as he is, as much as he's shown in the minors and that he may be able to anchor the outfield for the next decade+, he needs to be given the room to develop. If the Cubs wised up, it wouldn't be a huge deal to leave a lineup slot to do that...the probem is, they have another hole at SS that they refuse to fix, and instead of trying to fix that probelm, they're gonna jerk around Pie instead.
  17. LOL I GET IT BECAUSE THEY BOTH PLAY THE OUTFIELD AND WERE BOTH HIGHLY TOUTED PROSPECTS LOL DuBois was highly touted? Well, around here. He was "touted" in that people waned to see him play over Hollandsworth. That's like saying Theriot was "highly touted" because people here generaly wanted him starting instead of Izturius.

  19. I'd assume Cedeno would be included in any deal for Brignac, or do they have multiple SS options?
  20. I was just getting ready to break out the little graphic explanation... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/cubbybear314/Random%20Cool%20Shit/caring.png Except that "could care less" is sarcasm. From time to time. Most of the time, it's someone getting the actual phrase completely wrong.
