  1. Get ready for another career stat slam DUNK.
  2. So you can't use anything except career numbers?
  3. So is hitting the ball hard right at the defense. In result, yes they go down the same as a lazy out. But most hitters would say there isn't really a difference between a hard hit ball to a gap and a hard hit ball for an out. There isn't much placement of a ball besides the general idea of which field to hit it to. If you make solid contact, you simply have to take your chances of where it goes. Don't bother. The guy simply does not believe in chance. Everything happens for a reason in baseball to him.
  4. So is hitting the ball hard right at the defense. Except it's not. You really don't see a difference when a team is not making good contact and awkwardly striking out as opposed to driving outs? A team consistently driving the ball means that they're at least seeing pitches better and picking the right ones to hit. Though you refuse to acknowledge it, things like chance and luck are a huge part of this game and sometimes "bad luck" hits and those better hit balls are unfortunately tracked or hit right at someone.
  5. Yeah, pay that money to add another underperforming older player to a struggling lineup. Stellar.
  6. Time to feed the foe list.
  7. We sold key players from a 97 win team last year for a guy hitting below the Mendoza Line. They only "sold" one, and he's having a pretty crappy year himself. This whole offseason was about saving money to throw at Milton Bradley. And while DeRosa is having a crappy year, it's his first year in the American League. Not used to the pitching. This is not Mark DeRosa's first year in the AL.
  8. Though Petco and Peavy are the last things this offense needs right now, I'm glad Z is making his first start back in a park that pitcher-friendly. Hopefully that will help keep him reigned in if things don't go as he he expects/wants.
  9. yes let's trade him for juan pierre, that guy is raking. i'd rather have a guy who is hitting great RIGHT NOW than a guy who is underperforming and hitting line drives at people. Sorry man, this team just can't handle the big show.

  11. Yeah, these are the games that actually frustrate me. It's one thing if the team just stinks, but it's another if they're actually driving the ball and nothing is landing for a hit or dying at the wall. Driving the ball obviously isnt working for them, and they refuse to attempt small ball. There basically playing like the White Sox, with a few sluggers who show up when they want to and a bunch of mediocre players around them. "Small ball" is pretty meaningless. "Driving the ball" doesn't mean just hitting XBH.
  12. Okay you're right. Bradley was an .890 OPS guy from 04-08. Except in 2004 and 2005 and 2006 and he only played like 2 months n 07 but dude was .890 opsing it like crazy How dare you respond to him with nothing of substance.
  13. Awwww, you guys are so grumpy. This is adorable.

  15. good lord So, in short, he gets all the blame for their slumps and zero credit for when they're hitting. Gotcha.
  16. Yeah, Bradley made the ball take an odd bounce off the wall. You've sure got him pegged.
  17. I don't know who you are but I like the cut of your jib.
  18. Getting owned by the chief division rival which spent $55 million less than you tends to elecit these reactions. We just don't have good mental makeup this team just isn't built to win in late-May when the lights shine sort of bright THERE'S ONLY ONE MAY.
  19. Ray Durham (maybe). 2 nice k's by Marshall.
  20. I thought it sucked for a brand new park. Kansas City did a better job with their renovations. What's bad about the park?
  21. Anyone in the thread tonight actually been to the Cardinals' "new" park? How does it rate?
  22. Honestly, I'd be fine with giving the Cardinals three runs for Pujols hitting the sign like that. Hit the smallest letter too... should have been a x3 multiplier anyways. I'm also willing to give him symbolism points for hitting the Big Mac sign. That's what he hit? Awesome.
