  1. How did that prove your point? Zambrano has a better winning percentage than 41 of the the 68 pitchers in the HOF. Are you saying that Zambrano is a HOF pitcher? $2 million+ per win in 2009. What a bargain, Hendry. Oh wait..his VORP and WHIP were great. =D> =D> So you're completely ignoring the point. If you think wins are THE stat to judge a pitcher, then Zambrano is a HOF pitcher.
  2. The Yanks were trying to move Melky before he had his little "comeback" and even then were asking for ridiculous return for a player who is really not very good. Supposedly he was the kind of guy the Yanks thought they could present as a centerpiece in a package of pitching prospects for Santana.
  3. Why? Because you said so. At what point does the organization give these guys a legitimate chance? Ricketts isn't going to approve $150+ payroll so at some point the team is going to have to count on their young players to produce. It is funny that most people ridicule Hendry for his free agent signings, but yet trust he will do the right thing in their mind and only sign Cameron to a one year deal similar to Bobby Abreu last winter. Didn't the re-signing of Grabow illustrate the opposite. Sam Fuld has done nothing to show that he deserves a "legitimate chance" to be a fulltime OFer or even a regular platoon OFer. It's one thing to actually let good prospects get a chance...it's something totally different to let mediocre at the very best prospects get a chance as a fulltime player. Sam Fuld's performance in the majors is the epitome of sample size results. There's absolutely nothing in his career up until that point that inidcates he'd be able to sustain close to those numbers barring a miracle.

  5. Bruce Sutter, Rollie Fingers and Satchel Paige. He did say STARTING pitchers. Sutter had exactly zero major league starts, and Fingers and Paige had few enough starts they weren't considered starting pitchers. Regardless, this was the key part of his response to benchwarmer's asinine thinking:
  6. Oh my God.
  7. Schaub hurt? Yessir.
  8. Sexy Rexy has been unleased, REPEAT: SEXY REXY HAS BEEN UNLEASHED.
  9. This OL fills me with a righteous anger. What the [expletive] just happened.
  10. "Hit for average?" God help us all. You get this and someone saying that pitching wins and losses have been the #1 way to evaluate pitchers since baseball began all in the same day.
  11. I wish/hope the Cubs have more players on PED's.
  12. How can we even say that for sure since he didn't get a chance for sustained playing time in the majors with the Cubs?
  13. To stop eating.
  14. Plus, as it was already pointed out, Pie wasn't rushed.
  15. A reason which, until maybe the Cubs, didn't seem to be clubhouse issues with his fellow players.
  16. It seems pretty obvious that we got these players for Fox, not Miles. Hendry didn't "get" anything for Miles except off the hook for just under $2 million dollars.
  17. Jake Fox is not a DH barring some kind of a miracle. Unless you mean he's a platoon DH.
  18. It's the inherrent problem of our 24-news cycle that has the priority to entertain as opposed to just reporting. It would be one thing if they just reported the story (and yes, in the grand scheme of things of what should and can be dwelled on by news networks in this day and age it's a very minor story) and then updated it with new developments it would be one thing, but instead it becomes the dominating news story that eats up hour after hour of people talking about and speculating about it over and over again.
  19. Pieces in the farm for what?
  20. They are both guys that had significant off-the-field issues that impacted how much teams were interested in having them, are they not? That's some impressive spin.
  21. Tiger Woods long ago entered that insane ultra-global fame level a long time ago and has sustained it for nearly a decade. Michael Phelps wishes he could come even remotely close to that.
  22. Are you really equating Bradley's situation to Bonds'?
