It seems pretty redundant to run down the team when they don't have a leader of any kind really either on the floor or in a coach right now.

Vinny's gotta go. I think he's potentially the most damaging thing to the Bulls' chances of landing a big FA. They've got a decent young core in Rose, Deng and Noah but Vinny repeatedly shows that he has know idea how to guide and properly utilize these guys when it's most critical.

Definitely would not mind having Church on the bench.

What makes people think this? Matt Murton deserves a shot but Sam Fuld doesn't. Not necessarily you, but this is where people who rely mostly on stats lose credibility in my opinion. They argue Fuld should not be given a chance because you can't rely on a small sample size of success last year and his minor league stats don't suggest he will be a good player at the major league level. Meanwhile, a guy who has bounced around organizations doesn't get the shot "he deserves". The great Billy Beane had no use for Murton. Why? It may have something to do with his lack of defensive ability and his hitting does not overcome his bad defense. Beane could have had Murton again but instead chose Jake Fox. Interesting. On the other hand, Fuld plays good defense, has better speed and has shown an ability to get on base at the major league level but most people here don't want to give him a chance. I'm not necessarily advocating Fuld for CF, I'm just trying to point out the double standard that exists. One guy said Murton didn't get the shot he deserved and you're extrapolating that to some board-wide double standard when it comes to people realizing that Sam Fuld is simply not a very good fulltime baseball player. Most of us have actually come to the conclusion some time ago that Murton, like Fuld, is a mediocre at best player. Also, you point out that beane targeting Fox means that Fox might be better than we think...right after you pointed out that Beane also went after Murton and he didn't amount to much of anything. Just because Beane shows interets in a player doesn't mean they're going to amount to anything.

I really hope the Cubs check the "NO" box before they pass the note back to Looper.

Whew. I was worried about that. It's ok that you let Harden walk, but you gotta lock up Little Babe Ruth for as long as you can. That dude is the backbone of this team! While letting Harden go was pretty dumb unless his arm was about to shatter, you can't really compare signing Fontenot to signing Harden. Even just with arbitration Harden would be making a lot more.

Man, the HOF is going to be busting down Garland's door to get him in. Lowe and Moyer, too. ELITE.

How did that prove your point? Zambrano has a better winning percentage than 41 of the the 68 pitchers in the HOF. Are you saying that Zambrano is a HOF pitcher? $2 million+ per win in 2009. What a bargain, Hendry. Oh wait..his VORP and WHIP were great. =D> =D> So you're completely ignoring the point. If you think wins are THE stat to judge a pitcher, then Zambrano is a HOF pitcher.

The Yanks were trying to move Melky before he had his little "comeback" and even then were asking for ridiculous return for a player who is really not very good. Supposedly he was the kind of guy the Yanks thought they could present as a centerpiece in a package of pitching prospects for Santana.

Why? Because you said so. At what point does the organization give these guys a legitimate chance? Ricketts isn't going to approve $150+ payroll so at some point the team is going to have to count on their young players to produce. It is funny that most people ridicule Hendry for his free agent signings, but yet trust he will do the right thing in their mind and only sign Cameron to a one year deal similar to Bobby Abreu last winter. Didn't the re-signing of Grabow illustrate the opposite. Sam Fuld has done nothing to show that he deserves a "legitimate chance" to be a fulltime OFer or even a regular platoon OFer. It's one thing to actually let good prospects get a chance...it's something totally different to let mediocre at the very best prospects get a chance as a fulltime player. Sam Fuld's performance in the majors is the epitome of sample size results. There's absolutely nothing in his career up until that point that inidcates he'd be able to sustain close to those numbers barring a miracle.

Bruce Sutter, Rollie Fingers and Satchel Paige. He did say STARTING pitchers. Sutter had exactly zero major league starts, and Fingers and Paige had few enough starts they weren't considered starting pitchers. Regardless, this was the key part of his response to benchwarmer's asinine thinking:
