  1. That doesn't usually happen, especially with someone who only has 4-5 years of managing experience in the minor leagues.
  2. So then why not just stick to managing in the Cubs' farm system?
  3. Really? All the talk is about them lowering payroll. Not sure if that means from Opening Day last year's number or end of the season number, but either way, adding a $13 million a year player doesn't seem like it fits in the lowering payroll mantra, especially when there's more than one hole on the team. "All the talk" from the organization has been that the payroll will basically stay the same, though I'm still unclear if that means staying the same from what it was last year or "staying the same" after guys like Lilly and Lee were off the books.
  4. HE DOESN'T GET WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE A CUB, MAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNN.

  6. Of course it isn't.
  7. It was 8.4 pounds. Ok the only reason to have that much weed is intent to sell. So he's a hero.
  8. But he rode the bus for four years. FOUR WHOLE YEARS.
  9. It's more of a detriment to the team to sacrifice offensive production at 1B for the sake of defense.
  10. [expletive] that noise. They were damn near crippled by a gruesome twosome 3-4 for most of the first half. Anyone who predicted that is full of [expletive].
  11. Because he likely could have kept coaching in the minors. Why rock that boat? He likely needs significantly more coaching experience under his belt before another team will hire him to manage.
  12. It obviously means that the team underperformed. Oh man; "Cobs."
  13. Oh, good to know he's that bad.
  14. Don't ever do that again.
  15. So is Zombie's assumption one that Castro simply will not improve at all defensively?
  16. Why not wait to trade Fukudome closer to the deadline?
  17. It's weird when someone says they think the whole coaching staff stinks, as if they wanted Sandberg promoted to improve it.
  18. He had a 1.2 WHIP. Eh, I hadn't checked his numbers since the trade so all I remembered was his Cleveland WHIP this year. Still not worth it unless he's very cheap. I think he's worth it if it prevents them from signing somebody else to a 3 year deal, not to mention if it sends Cashner back to the rotation. They are going to sign somebody for the bullpen. Why not a guy who can conceivably pay for himself with the nostalgia sales? I'm just going in blinders on and pretending like they won't spend a dime on the bullpen. I can dream, can't I?

  20. Yeah, you have to REALLY ignore a lot to look at his time with the Yankees as indicative of him being a smart bullpen signing. It was almost a miracle that he didn't give up more runs with as many guys as he put on base. That's a very bad sign for an aging reliever.
  21. But there are two different versions of that person. The real money is in exploiting those people who really enjoy being in a place nobody else can get in. Yes, I know.
  22. Seems smart to me: capitalize on the people who DO drop a lot of money just to go drink and party at Wrigley.
  23. The Bears already have something like 16 types of cancer, so that's redundant.
