  1. If the Cubs can't win here I just may crap my pants.
  2. Yeah Ernie Banks said, "Oh let's play two." Or did he mean 200 years? NO, HE DIDN'T YOU DUMB [expletive].
  3. There's magic in the ivy and the old scoreboard. The same one I stared at as a kid keeping score. A world full of greed I could never want more. The [expletive]?
  4. How often do you see non-closers netting decent returns? How do you know he's highly regarded around the league? Why do you think he's going to be able to double or even triple his annual salary as a soft-tossing non-closer?
  5. THE SONG ISN'T GOING TO CHANGE WHETHER THEY ARE GOOD OR BAD. Christ. It's not like you're actually buying peanuts and Crackerjacks at every game, too.
  6. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.cgi?id=samarje01&year=2011&t=p#innng::none
  7. See? Even the soccer guy gets it.
  8. Shark's arguably better than Wood this season.
  9. i said its "a bit" ridiculous. but again much more so because the song content is so sappy. Of course a song that's explicitly pro-Cubs is going to be "sappy." You want something fun and cheesy that's easy for people to sing along to, like "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." And there's nothing embarrassing about being happy and celebrating after a win. I thought it was ridiculous enough when bitter people would gripe about other teams celebrating walk-off wins...now you've got miserable Cubs fans grousing about other fans being happy and having a good time after a victory.
  10. You yourself said it's embarrassing that people sing and dance after a victory when the team is 20 games under. Just a bit up the screen there. Scroll back up if you don't believe me. I can quote it for you if you want. And "Jump" is bad and annoying, too. It's even worse since it has nothing to do with the Cubs and outside of the moronically simple chorus it's hard as hell to sing along with.
  11. Remember, when people try to make "serious" sports music you end up with Eddie Vedder's "Go All the Way" monstrosity. Maybe that [expletive] flies down at your made-up Wri-guh-lee Field, Eddie, but not in the real world.
  12. YOU HEARD ME. Really, they're just stupid. But the people singing and chanting are having a great time, so who cares? Let everyone have their fun.
  13. Of course it's a bad song. Sports song are terrible (and before the soccer fans get here, yes, that includes your dumb chants). "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" is a stupid song. It's not like the Cubs are a weird team for having a bad song played at the end of the game. And really, the irony of preferring "Jump" is pretty hilarious. What's less embarrassing about that? The ridiculously dated synth riffs? Diamond Dave's yowling scatting? Man, if only they did something REALLY cool, like playing "Sweet Caroline!" I drives me nuts how badass all the teams that play that during a game look! And Christ, NOTHING is worse than complaining about people being happy over a win when the team is 20 games under. If anything, isn't that when you're looking for something to enjoy the most? Why get down on people for having two [expletive] minutes of fun because the [expletive] team won a game? Are you really THAT self-conscious about your fandom? Hey, you know what's more embarrassing than fans enjoying a win when a team is 20 games under? THE [expletive] TEAM BEING 20 GAMES UNDER.
  14. I know everything, but I'm not miserable. I'm not one of the dinks that parades around here bemoaning their fandom and other people who get even a modicum of joy out of a season where the Cubs suck. "WHAT?!?! Somebody is DARING to be happy when the Cubs suck?!?! I WON'T STAND FOR THIS." Like I said, please just shut up. People singing and dancing to a dumb song when the Cubs win isn't a bad thing. And it's an even stupider stupid complaint when some of the people bitching about that talk about the stretch like it's some sacred tradition. Which is it? So people singing a dumb song in the 7th is OK, but after the end of the game it's embarrassing? Make up your [expletive] minds, you miserable idiots.
  15. Please just shut up. Nothing worse than miserable Cubs fans who get all preachy and awful when they see other people not as miserable as them.
  16. It wasn't a Cubs tradition. They co-opted it. There's nothing "sacred" about it, and the guests aren't desecrating it any worse than the big fat sloppy drunk did. Can't help but be amused at people criticizing fans dancing to "Go Cubs Go" as being dumb fans who are entertained by anything and then they turn around and talked about the stretch like it's this incredibly rich tradition that needs to be protected or stopped out of respect for Harry.
  17. It pisses off meatball jerkoffs who think singing and dancing after a win is lame, too, so it's worth it just for that.
  18. Yeah, I'm confused. I thought the $60 million figure was adjusted for all of next year's projected changes.
  19. Explain how Wilson/Aramis/Prince will cost more than $60 million. Something like Wilson getting $15 million a year, Aramis being brought back for the team option and Prince inexplicably getting $30 million a year?
  20. I'm assuming Aramis is given a new deal if he's keep on and they aren't using the team option. If that's the case, yes, they could afford all 3 with $60+ million dollars to spend. I really don't see Aramis and Wilson combined making more than $20-$25 million a year.
  21. Id be more comfortable with Dempster as a 3rd starter. The problem is, who is out there good enough to be better than Demp? Wilson maybe, but the likelihood is that Dempster will be our second best starting pitcher going into next season. And if his horrid start were really a fluke, that'd be fine. CJ Wilson seems to be the best guy available, unless of course anyone out there thinks we have a shot at CC. Problem is, if we do go after CJ and Fielder, it could become a very expensive endeavor, and they may need to consider moving Z or Soriano for partial salary relief. All depends on what the Ricketts are willing to spend. If the money coming off the books can be re-spent if necessary then they could easily afford both without dumping anyone.
  22. Kyle pulling the davearm2. He must be bored.
