  1. I'm not, because I'm not an [expletive].
  2. Maybe I'm looking to much into it but I see Ramirez having a big influence with the kid and Ramirez has been fairly quiet throughout his time here. The media likes a good quote and in their collective minds it is a waste of time to try and pry out quotes from an ESL kid while there are plenty of fluent veterans and/or fluent English speakers; Dempster, Campana, Byrd, Pena, Wood and Garza. And Ramirez was here when the Sosa relationship blew up, so perhaps he's always tried to avoid it and now is steering Castro in that direction. Ramirez has also been public enemy #1 or 2 of the hack sportswriters in Chicago. It wouldn't shock me if he had no love for the buffoons in the press and has steered Castro the same way. Yeah, I don't have a problem at all if he wants to keep the media at a distance; I was just struck by how little we've heard from a player this young and this good. I remember when Beckham was called up he was on Comcast SportsNight all the damn time.
  3. What's the deal with Castro and the media? Is he shy? Does he have a particular aversion to dealing with the press? Is it due to him still struggling with English? It struck me the other day that I can only think of one time I've seen him "officially" talking to the media (there's locker room interviews on YouTube). I'm just surprised he's not more front and center yet.
  4. I like how the reflection off of Sammy's shirt is making Vance glow.
  5. SAMMY'S GOT DIVING FOR CATCHES INTO THE WALL ALL OVER HIS FACE.
  6. Didn't say they were locks as long term answers (or even looked at as answers beyond 2-3 seasons), but they were all potentially and looked to be longer term and be of much more use than someone like Johnson. Johnson is a brief rental, period. All three starting players, however, could have easily been in plans beyond what actually played out if they had shown that they were worth holding onto; it just didn't turn out that way due to decline and/or injuries. Teams aren't going to give up comparable value for Reed Johnson just because those three guys didn't work out as hoped by the teams that traded for them. Those three had expectations/hopes of them beyond what Johnson brings.
  7. Sammy went from "selfish" to "gritty" with a single trip to the plastic surgeon.
  8. Yup. I'd be more curious to find an example of an in the park home run that somehow WASN'T the result of a screw-up.
  9. "I'M SOOOO REEEEEEEEEALLLLLLLLL." http://www.thaindian.com/images/sammy-sosa-after.jpg Though at least he looks normal in that Cialis commercial.
  10. Reed Johnson essentially has minimal (or no) value to whatever team he'd be traded to after this season. The other three were all starters and all played into into the team's plans beyond just a two month rental.
  11. Are there inside-the-park home runs that don't somehow involve a play being botched? Isn't it typically an OF diving for a ball and missing it, so it gets behind him, and then the other OF is slow to back him up? Sometimes it's just confusion about your own home parks ground rules if you remember Geo chugging around the bases in Houston. I thought that was Arizona. No sir.
  12. Yeah, he's pretty damn great.
  13. It's Castro. As the answer to both the question of the thread and davearm2.
  14. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooo.... Time for a new winning streak. I'll kill anyone who isn't with me.
  15. Damn bouncey-bounce out there. MY PROPHECY WILL COME TRUE.
  16. So apparently in the HBO special about Jeter going for 3000 hits, you can see a pretty fancy shamncy poker setup in the background whenever Jeter is being interviewed at home.
  17. Fuckin' Moreland calling that: "OUTSIDE...corner, strike 3." Bastard.
  18. I'm call it a bit closer and say they win 7-6. An Aram gapper and a couple innings of good bullpen away... I CAN FEEL IT IN MAH BONES.
  19. I'm not saying I agree with the decision; just pointing out what the motivation was. CASTRO WILL NOT BE DENIED.
  20. Presumably because the pitcher's spot is slated to lead off the bottom of the 7th and he didn't want to burn a bullpen pitcher in case the game goes to extras.
