    .293 .330 .395 .725 at home. I agree he usually shouldn't hit higher than 6, but your overreaction is hysterical. He's not an everyday player because of that line? OK then. Straight out of the figures lie and liars figure handbook. Those numbers mean very little when he doesn't hit with men on base. You have to score runs to win and Byrd rarely helps that happen. How anyone can deny his lack of production is mind numbing and hysterically funny. .204/.255/.306 with runners in scoring position this year. You can have him on your team, I prefer a better player. I didn't "deny his lack of production." I've stated numerous times I don't want him batting above 6 in the lineup. That said, your suggestion that he not play everyday is a ridiculous overreaction that seems to be suggesting that the only options are to bench or get rid of him. Why are you opposed to simply batting him lower in the lineup? He's not a completely unproductive hitter and still almost a 2 WAR player despite his struggles this year. He's having a bad year hitting with RISP; so your conclusion is that he's all but useless?

    I for some reason though that although part of his salary was deferred, it was just deferred until the end of this year and would then be included with this years budget. Just basically a way to out off the payment rather than making it equal throughout the year. You may be right though. Yeah, I would hope that it wasn't counted against next year's budget since it has to be paid by January 2012.

    Hopefully Theo can point out to the Ricketts the importance of spending a lot of money. Part of me is still worried is he's going to try and do this on the (relative) cheap and try and keep the payroll below $120 million.

    Explain. I have a feeling you're inflating the reality of the backloaded contracts they have. If Soriano's was spread out equally they'd be saving, what, a million dollars? If Zambrano's was spread out equally they'd save a few hundred thousand. Who has the contracts where the backloading is specifically hampering the Cubs' spending in the offseason?
