  1. BECAUSE LEN IS THE [expletive] BEST. It's pretty cool how he brings up this type of stuff without really being confrontational about it. Yeah, he really is fantastic at working it in to the broadcast without beating anyone over the head or being a Steve Stone-esque douche about it (which is ironic, since Steve Stone is a Steve Stone-esque douche about all the wrong things).
  2. I'd say I wish he blasted it out of the park and straight up your pee-hole...but yeah, his power has fled.
  3. Because he wasn't good last year? I'm not one of those down on Theo/Jed, but I thought Marmol was entering a downward spiral last year, but that his 2011 wasn't so bad he would be immovable over the offseason. He is now. I'm not "down" on them at all; Marmol is expensive, has always had horrible mechanics and was bad last year. Moving him wasn't something I was expecting to see happen unless he rebounded.
  4. Because he wasn't good last year?
  5. I don't think what he does is nibbling. He just physically cannot throw strikes. I have no doubt he's even having trouble throwing the fastball, but I'm convinced a big part of him not even trying with it is a drop in velocity. That should have been his go-to facing Harris; if he manages to get a hit off of you with as horrendous as he's been, oh well.
  6. I swear, it's like I have to remind myself every game that he has no speed; I just expect him to have some quickness.
  7. Oh, come on. I know you're pissed, but this is ridiculous.
  8. Sometimes he's better at locating his slider instead of his fastball. Of course, in this instance, he can't locate either one. This entire inning had been baffling until Dolis was finally brought in. Here's Harris' line going in to today: .097 .125 .161 .286 He's been WRETCHED this year. There's basically no excuse to let him on base, yet Marmol is nibbling the entire time with offspeed pitches when he should just be coming right at him. Then on top of that you've got them taking way too long to get the pen going; there's no excuse for letting Marmol face Bruce when you could have had Russell ready to face him. None.
  9. Like I said, I don't begrudge him for sticking with it. At the same time, considering his physical and financial situation, it's certainly not crazy for him to say "it's not worth it to work that hard just to be a middle reliever for a season or two, I'm gonna go be a 1%er and do nothing" either. Of course not. But that's different than saying a dick thing like "when is he going to give up?"
  10. I'm sorry, but you're making it sound like it's potentially life-crushing agony and it's ridiculous. Here's a guy who was touted as being the next great pitcher and people are wondering why he keeps trying to come back, if even just in the minors or a taste of the bigs? The money you keep bringing up isn't going anywhere. I can't believe we're having to spell this out.
  11. He still has a chance to play professional baseball again, which is more than about, what, 99.something% of the population can say? Why WOULDN'T he try if he thinks he can, even if just for a brief period?
  12. The [expletive]? Why should he? Because he can't stay healthy and keeps ending up under the knife. When is it enough? He's never going to pitch in the majors again. He has plenty of money. Go live your life, the dream is over. Man, that's some hearty meatballin'.
  13. Didn't he have more than the rest of the team before the game tonight? Just getting back from work and haven't checked updated stats, so I'm purely guessing. Because Stewart hit one tonight, I think the Cubs have 12 total home runs. LaHair has 6 of them. 11.
  14. What's the argument against giving each manager a challenge per game?
