  1. Will Fox dh when the regular season starts? If he keeps playing poorly at third he will.
  2. I'm not even getting audio at all I'm not either. Sounds like they may be having some difficulty. Heard a click and some background noises and then silence. Ah, here it is.
  3. '08 alum. First became a full fledged Boiler basketball fanatic when I got there in '02 with Willy Deane flying all over the court and Kenneth Lowe dropping shots from Slater Hill. Sounds like we've got a little overlap, I was there from '98 until '04 (graduated in December of '03). I think a lot of the other guys are more recent grads too. Da Bum is local (W.L. native) but not directly affiliated with the school. Can't speak for circlecitycub or grassbass, though. I grew up in the area and attended Purdue for my Frosh and Soph years. Finished up at IU but I have always been a Boiler at heart.
  4. That and they are the only team to beat Kansas.
  5. How is that better than beating Tennessee on a neutral floor? Because it is.* Using the Pomeroy rankings I just dismissed, Pitt is No. 20 and Tennessee is No. 27. Tennessee has the huge win over Kansas (No. 2), but outside of that their best win is Ole Miss (No. 48). Tennessee is just 8-4 in the SEC. Color me underwhelmed. Pitt, on the other hand, has beat West Virginia (No. 3), won at Syracuse (No. 4), beat Villanova (No. 14), won at Marquette (No. 22), beat Louisville (No. 30), and won at UConn (No. 43). They're 10-4 in a much stronger league than the SEC. *Now, obviously, there are some issues with who played in either game due to suspensions/injuries. So it's not a perfect analysis. Valid argument.

  7. Condolences. And I'm an IU fan. I am too this evening.
  8. Is anybody here talking about Michigan, Minnesota or Iowa? No, because they aren't very good and aren't located in the Chicagoland area. If a cabal of fans means about four then OK. But It's not like we're crawling out of the woodwork here. The Purdue hate from Illini fans, or fans of pretenders like ND or BSU is very similar to White Sox fans hate for the Cubs. Did my team win today? Nope. Oh well, Purdue still sucks. Classy. What? I don't care about Purdue. Trust me, the Boilers are way, way down the list of teams that I feel anything about. And I have only seen one person here actively hate on Purdue. One. And there are dozens of us here. Equating Illini fans' feelings towards Purdue to Sox fans feelings about the Cubs is just laughable. I think I can speak for most us in saying that if we were going to take that attitude, Iowa, Wisconsin, MSU, Indiana and UM would all come before Purdue for our negative feelings. Personally, I always root for the B10, and have never felt conflicted rooting for Purdue when it didn't directly conflict with the Illini's interests. There's only one team that has even been in danger of making me feel that way, and it sure isn't you guys. You don't know much about Illini fans if you think we live and die on what Purdue does. Nice swing and a miss on that one. I just find it amusing that Purdue fans only started actively participating in college basketball discussions within the past year or so, and in the case of some, acting like pompous asses and making ridiculous assertions about Purdue's place in the b10. I'm not hating on Purdue, I'm just a little put off by the "we're a top 10 team for the first time in ages, and we're going to act like we've been here all along" attitude I've seen. Some of you have been here for years, and I wouldn't have known you were Purdue fans a couple of years ago. I guess I just figured that since we're all Cubs fans here, we wouldn't have too many people whose level of interest is dictated by their team's fortunes. Well, you cared enough to make the comment alluding to the Purdue fans here as being bandwagoners. A lot of other posters are constantly bagging on Purdue. It's not that it hurts my feelings it just baffles me that other fans don't speak up and say hey they're a pretty damn good team. It's just constant 'oh they've never won a title', 'they'll choke prior to the final four', etc. This stuff is coming from Cubs fans that have to hear the same thing said about the Cubs and they should know how annoying and petty it sounds. I think the attitude that you speak comes from the fact that fans who have followed them for a long period of time feel that this is back where they belong. Purdue is a good basketball program and should be considered in the elite of the conference. Their 21 Big Ten titles is nothing for other fans to scoff at and something their fans should be proud of. Winning on the road in the Big Ten is extremely hard. Anyway, I've said my peace and this is not solely directed at you but the board as a whole.
  9. Is anybody here talking about Michigan, Minnesota or Iowa? No, because they aren't very good and aren't located in the Chicagoland area. If a cabal of fans means about four then OK. 10. We'll have to wait and see for that. First we'll have to enjoy the Illini's NIT appearance.
  11. I think Illinois gets in. In fact I think Northwestern will have a nice little run to finish the season ahead of Minnesota and get in too. PU, MSU, OSU, ILL, WIS, NW will represent the Big Ten
  12. An openly gay, flamboyant Zambrano striking out Major League hitters would be absolutely hilarious.
  13. I always wonder about assessments like this. What did Grace do that Sammy didnt that made him any more of a 'team player.' Seems to me that "Team Player" usually is just a different way of saying "Doesn't hit as many home runs" I can say that Grace was pissed to leave Chicago while Sammy literally couldn't wait to get out the door. For the record, I'm not a Grace fan.
  14. Last night's game was tough to swallow but it was a must win for OSU. Purdue wins that game and OSU has no chance at the Big Ten. For the first time this season I felt they really needed Lew Jack. Hardly anybody was penetrating just passing the ball around the perimeter looking for an open three. Also during their next match up JJ needs to have his 15 footer sharp so he can take Lauderdale away from the basket. He'll be more of a factor out there against him.
  15. Left pinky
  16. I don't get it? What does that say about Purdue in the Big Ten? I'll create a table that illustrates Purdue's place in the Big Ten. Big Ten Titles Chicago* 6 1924 Illinois 17 2005 Indiana 20 2002 Iowa 8 1979 Michigan 12 1986 Michigan State 11 2009 Minnesota 9 1982 Northwestern 2 1933 Ohio State 17 2007 Penn State 0 --- Purdue 21 1996 Wisconsin 17 2008 CubbieBum was trying to insist that IU and Purdue were head and shoulders over everyone else for program history. They're not. Perhaps you didn't realize that Purdue has Robbie Humell. Yes they do and he has just as many points(29) has the entire OSU team has in the first half of play.
  17. For all the talk around here about the MLB playoffs being a crap shoot why isn't the NCAA tourney viewed the same way? Teams get hot at the right time and make a nice run. Unfortunatel,y Purdue has not had success in that manner. However, they have been able to endure and triumph through a very tough conference season 21 times. That cannot be dismissed just because of the lack of their tournament success.
  18. That remains to be seen.
  19. The last 10 years, and 40 years from the dawn of the 40's to the end of the 70's. So, what, about 15 years of moderate success out of the last 70? Congratulations, I guess. And yet 21 Big Ten titles still. 13 years without winning one and nobody else has caught up yet. Now they are among the nations elite and everybody wants to talk trash about the past. Purdue's record vs every Big Ten team. * Illinois: 88–85 * Indiana: 109–84 * Iowa: 82–70 * Michigan: 81–62 * Michigan State: 63–45 * Minnesota: 94–78 * Northwestern: 119–43 * Ohio State: 82–81 * Penn State: 21–11 * Wisconsin: 104–62 Not a single losing record in the bunch and that is after a decade of mediocrity.

  21. Evan Turner returns tonight vs IU.
  22. UK has their hands full with the juggernaut that is Louisville.
  23. I was just getting ready to post the same thing. UK isn't looking all that great either.
  24. Possibly end of February. The question will probably be will they need him more during the month of March than an entire extra season via a medical red shirt. I think he'll be back by tournament time unless the team is playing so well there won't be any minutes for him.
  25. That is awesome. I can't wait until the ish hits the fan in Lexington.
