  1. Going to the Iowa Cub game tonight in OKC - really excited
  2. Who is this Almonte? I follow the team pretty closely and don't remember the name much before this Spring training. Is that you Dwight? No - I'm not Dwight. Have been a Cub fan since around 1950, currently live in Oklahoma
  3. Question? Who is this Almonte? I follow the team pretty closely and don't remember the name much before this Spring training.
  4. I'm trying to think of another player, in any sport, who was so good early on, and then lost it. John Brockington - GB Packers - started with 2 or 3 seasons of 1000 yrds rushing and hen did nothing.
  5. I think Pat said at the beginning of the game that we had a personal matter to attend to, but he was available to pinch hit. You beat me to it.
  6. In regards to D Lee - Ron and /or Pat seemed to say something about he would be available later - something about personal business.
  7. Is "True Fact' redundant - kind of like the "Honest Truth"
  8. Yes, it is one of the youngest line-ups I can ever remember. No, what I would call hanger-ons - old-timers jsut waiting for a posssible chance. I think this is part of the rebuilt farm system slowly moving up to where it can contribute on a regular basis into the future. GO CUBS! [/b]
  9. I have a question about the true value of the slugging percentage. If a player gets 2 doubles in a bats, won't his slugging percentage be greater that a player who hits 2 singles in 4 at bats, but then steals second base after each hit? If that is the case, isn't it faulty to compare the slugging percentage of a power hitter with a base stealer, and the other intangibles?
  10. Give me some clarification here. Isn't it Hendry that truly sets the 25 man roster. Of course he has input from Baker, but the final decision is his. If he feels that someone other than Grisson should make the team, it is ultimately his choice and Baker has to live with his choices. Tell me if I am wrong. Everyone keeps talking about Dusty making these decisions.
  11. Let's hope the aseball doesn't explode and become a WMD.
  12. Not that they are in the same class - but Sandy Koufax was a late bloomer that had a fantastic record once he got his control down. You wanted one. I don't recall when he experienced his turn around, but I know it was later than the average player.
  13. Wuertz biggest problem , at least early in the year was when he went into his second inning of pitching. I don't remember how long the streak was, but it was well into the season before he allowed his first inherited base runner to score, and he was brought into some pretty tough situations. Another year of maturity will be a great asset for him.
  14. Notice I said preposterous suggestion.
  15. Seeing it is slow on here. Have a preposterous suggestion. Rusch is struggling - bring in Maddux to pitch through the 5th - he would then be in line for the win, and then would only have to do that one more time before the end of the year.
