  1. Lincecum is inconsistent. Cain has been pretty bad. Morris is decent, but should be familiar. Zito has been the worst of them all. Cain has a 3.53 ERA. That's not "pretty bad." Morris is at 3.55. I'm worried because Zito, Cain, and Lincecum all are capable of shutting us out. Not that I'm expecting it from any of them, but there's little doubt that they have the potential to do that. i'm not worried about cain because the giants never score for him. it's incredible. they average 3.33 runs of support during his starts. they've scored more than 4 runs in his starts 3 times this year in 18 starts.
  2. he's done them all season. he called a Dodgers/Cubs game earlier this year.
  3. and i like the celebs singing, personally. most of them make fools of themselves, and any time a celeberity makes him/herself look dumb, I'm all for it.
  4. or people could not jump to faulty conclusions based on few words.
  5. This is Luhnow's third year. His first was the Rasmus/Anderson/Garcia draft (our top three prospects). I liked your old avatar much better. Feel free to use it. got a link, i might just use it http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c194/vh2k6/hot_beer_girls400.jpg
  6. is there really a debate here? ichiro is a great centerfielder. alex rodriguez is probably the best player in baseball right now. no question, ARod.
  7. Who else should be #1? Gallagher, quite easily yeah, after giving it some more thought, I'd go Gallagher, then Veal.
  8. seriously? he would fit very well in left field. they're using a platoon that's qualified them for 12th in the NL in OPS from LF.
  9. Who else should be #1? I'm not a fan of Rotoworld or anything, and Tyler Colvin has some glaring holes in his game, but I think he's a pretty easy choice for #1 with Pie graduated and Veal and Samardzija struggling this season. ETA: Thanks for the link, rabidawg900. i wouldn't put colvin in the top 100. it's not like he's lit the world on fire this year. i would go veal, gallagher, maybe epatt, and then colvin. definitely agree that samardzija doesn't belong until he cuts down on the hits and starts striking more guys out. i don't think he belongs in the 150 either. the cubs farm isn't exactly top heavy right now though. it's questionable whether they deserve anyone in the top 100 with pie graduated.
  10. Kinda blows a hole in your entire argument to point out that Soriano's two lowest OPS+ seasons since his rookie year came at ages 28 and 29, right square in the middle of his alleged peak, doesn't it? so one player shatters the evidence that 26-29 are generally peak years?
  11. if ichiro is making 20m a year, i shudder to think what ARod is going to make. i have to believe 6/120 is way too generous for him.
  12. dammit, i voted for the wrong one. i thought this was a "who's worst" poll. i voted for lugo. i'd much rather have izturis so far than lugo. i do think lugo will be better as we go along, though.
  13. dlee is going to waste his only second half HR on this game.
  14. i wouldn't criticize jim all the time if he didn't go after the wrong players all the time.
  15. Isn't buying high what we kill Jim Hendry for all the time? no thanks to Rowand, he's due for a huge regression second half. I'd rather see him have it with the Phillies.
  16. As I understand it, Rios is the one replacing Cabrera. The original lineup was 4 NL people and 3 AL people. i thought they just hadn't found a guy to finish out the 8. i thought i read carlos lee was going to be asked, actually. rios has more home runs than vlad this year, btw.
  17. Just wondering, but what puts Vlad above ARod? Vlad's team would not be competitive without him. terrible argument. most teams wouldn't be competitive if you took the best bat out of the lineup. if you're going to use that argument, it really applies to guys at scarce offensive positions since production is harder to replace there. Then why not vote for Bonds over Fielder? The MVP is not just the best statistics. i voted for hanley ramirez, actually. he gets CS too often, but has otherwise had a great first half.
  18. Just wondering, but what puts Vlad above ARod? 19. ...JJ Putz? i mean, he's having a great year, but i have a hard time believing a reliever could ever be an actual MVP. and by 'actual', i mean using reason and logic. i think a reliever could be voted in as MVP someday. i voted for ARod.
  20. Lee has a .406 BABIP, which is the highest in the NL. When his luck normalizes, there will be a pretty sizable difference between his production and ARam's production. But hasnt he had a high BABIP since joining the Cubs? I know not that high, but still high ? he had a high babip in 2005, but it was at least somewhat appropriate given his batted ball data. he's pretty much hitting the ball like he did pre-breakout. except he's not hitting home runs. he's due for a huge regression.
  21. great, a lefty we've never seen before. at least zambrano is pitching.
