  1. I killed a guy.
  2. Isn't Pie's biggest problem plate discipline? I don't think he'll be a good fit in the leadoff spot, especially in his first year when he'll likely be overmatched.
  3. Billingsley is arguably the best pitching prospect still in the minors right now, definitely top 5 IIRC. You can't argue the past with this kidn of thing, because then there's no need to trade prospects at all. "I don't want Guzman, because we had a hitter fail one time. Yeah. Sorry."
  4. I don't buy that. The Dodgers don't have any young starting pitchers up and doing well. Their last phenom/can't miss was Edwin Jackson. How's he doing? If they had a bunch of studs, then Tomko & Sele wouldn't be starting. Marshall's actually doing quite well on the major league level. Ummm Billingsley, though I don't think they'll part with him.
  5. the management is very easy to hate, i still have a tough time hating the players outside of Rusch, Bynum, and Perez.
  6. Marshall and Pie would be absolutely dwarfed by any offer the Dodgers could put together.
  7. I actually really doubt that for some reason. The benches will clear, at least. Don't know if we'll see a punch or a Farnsworthian tackle, but the benches will definitely clear at some point tomorrow. Z! pitching without having to hit just seems like it's too good to be true after today (or yesterday for most of you I guess).
  8. Brenly's pretty bad, he's definitely not the answer at least.
  9. That's happened a lot lately Todd. They all look like buzz saws against us. Gotta tip your cap, dude. Well said Chip. I also tip my cap to: Chris Capuano Brad Hallsey Zach Duke Bronson Arroyo EVERY OTHER PITCHER IN THE NL EXCEPT AARON HARRANG I think Halsey is in the AL. He's an A I'm pretty sure. But Clay Hensley gets a tip of the cap.
  10. Instead of blowing up parliament, can we blow up home plate?
  11. What a fun game! I'm so glad I get out of school 20 minutes early on fridays so I could come home and watch this! I did get some much, MUCH needed sleep though. That was nice. Though I woke up with a bloody nose. Damned Cubs.
  12. meh, this worked before game one of the last series: You gotta get angry! You gotta get mean! Let's be like the Charlestown Chiefs of baseball! Let's carry our bats around the infield as we round the bases and beat any fielder who gets in our way!
  13. I really had to double-check to make sure it was 2 outs in the 9th. I thouht it was the first inning and there was 1 out or something. I couldn't figure it out. It just...WHAT THE HELL MAN? GAH!
  14. Sold my guitar to the baker's son Why did you sell your guitar to Darren?
  15. Did Jimmy Rollins extend his hit streak?!?!?!??! Pretty solid lineup, anyhow. here's to hoping there's good news when I come back from the TV in the other room because hockey's on.
  16. Why am I thinking of the Adam Ant song "Goody Two-shoes"? Can't catch, can't throw What do you do? Bob Slydel: "What would you say you do here?" Peter Gibbons: Well, I generally come in at least fifteen minutes late, ah, I use the side door - that way Lumbergh can't see me, heh - after that I sorta space out for an hour.
  17. well, with that offensive explosion earlier in the evening, I'm feeling confident in us winning again tomorrow night.
  18. Z! looks like he's riding a skateboard.
  19. Being on the giving end of a shutout sure feels nice.
  20. I'm wondering the same thing. He couldn't have actually been bunting, could he have?
  21. Yeah, but that was the 9th, not the 8th. No. Maddux started losing it in the 8th and gave up a run that inning. Piazza's bomb would have only tied the game in the 9th. Maybe its no big deal, but at the kind of clip the Cubs are on, every little run is relevant. But that could be put on Jacque's crappy throw as much as anything else. I go with Howry/Eyre here, personally.
  22. whats Z's pitch count? is it 96 (Gameday) or 100? Gameday says 100 for me
  23. you call .217 hitting? .800 OPS hitting? .327 lifetime OBP? has only played in 145 games twice in 2001 and 2004. not worth it. And you know...2003...when we got him.
  24. and how many years has he played 145 games in a season? 3 above 145... one at 142, last year at 123 due to injuries. So let me see, he hits, he's relatively healthy...but he's still a bum. Go figure. and if you take everything the Padre announcers say as complete truths, he's a top 5 defensive 3B too.
