  1. He needs to spend a week or two more in AA so the front office can't repeat the same [expletive] that they did with Rizzo. By the time he spends a year in AAA, he'll have passed the Super 2 deadline.
  2. At this point it's just embarrassing that he's still in AA.
  3. Not sure, but I'm hoping for something from the Rockies involving Corey Dickerson.
  4. http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p228/irish1289/jay-cutler-doesnt-care.png
  5. He was also Miami (OH)'s coach before going to Indiana, which probably explains why Schwarber came to Indiana in the first place considering he grew up 45 minutes away from Miami.
  6. picked number 5th Glad I'm not the only one who caught that.
  7. He's not human. That's like saying Mike Trout is a guy with some speed.
  8. Notes I got: A guy that gets on base a ton would be very useful to have in the system.
  9. I find it strange that Rizzo is on pace for only 14 doubles.
  10. Guess they cant move to Rosemont, Schaumburg, Naperville, River North or anywhere with a bar scene then. These drunk sexual assaults happen everywhere. The only chance is to move the team to Sandwich, IL i guess. That's just the latest disgusting cherry on top of a turd sundae; Wrigleyville and Boystown have been going to [expletive] for a while, and to chalk it up to just being "bar neighborhood behavior" is bull [expletive] because it's clearly been getting a LOT worse in the last few years. A lot less cops, the local shelters/clubs have no money and are basically out of control, and you have the city as a whole actively fostering a "come party and whatever happens, who gives a [expletive]?" environment Everyone from Tunney to Rahm is desperate to keep what is a veritable crime wave from Belmont to Waveland out of the news; crimes are routinely reclassified to keep from seeming as bad it is, but the area is rife with whatever you want: robberies, assaults, brawls, holdups, bank/store robberies, open prostitution and now sexual assaults and actual homicides. It's a serious issue and a sad, sad downturn that's getting next to no attention. I'd honestly feel safer hanging around the Cell right now than Wrigley. All very true (except the part about hanging around the Cell). Other than going to a game, I never go to that area.
  11. Shoop will always be the worst to me. Still waiting on his magical automatic TD play.
  12. Rodon and Kolek; Rodon probably moreso because shoulder surgery is worse than elbow. Just accepting the fact that Kolek will have TJS, I'd love to see what our development staff could do with an arm like that. Doesn't look like he'll fall past the White Sox though. And we don't seem particularly interested in him anyways.
  13. No Seriously. If Rose never plays again and the Bulls never win more than 10 games a season for the rest of my life, I wouldn't even care that much.
  14. If they won't do Gausman and Bundy without the Cubs including Rondon as well, I'd trade him.
  15. Alcantara is starting in the OF for the first time.
  16. I'm still pissed nobody replied to this and instead there was much needed bickering about run differential for 7 of the 8 pages. I just came in to see how in the world this thread got to 8 pages. As for the Sosa comparison, I think that's a pretty accurate comparison numbers-wise if Javy reaches his ceiling. In today's game and with the position premium, that's an elite player. However, if I were to be greedy, I would hope Javy passes 40 homers at some point. Sosa's career high prior to 1998 was 40.
  17. Sure you are. If you don't, it crumbles around you and you have no revenue streams. Yep, they'd have no ability to move anywhere else. It'd be pretty dumb to refuse to renovate Wrigley Field without new revenue and then spend a bunch of money to build a new park with even less revenue. If they weren't trying to generate new revenue, why wouldn't they just keep doing a patchwork job of making it sure it doesn't crumble?
  18. Sure you are. If you don't, it crumbles around you and you have no revenue streams. Yep, they'd have no ability to move anywhere else.
  19. It's not about whether the rooftops will win the lawsuit, it's whether they can successfully get an injunction that blocks the construction. If they can't get that, than long, drawn-out litigation is the Cubs' best friend.
  20. No, it was terrible. It wasn't close and the Yankees announcers even knew it. Since when do the Yankees announcers know anything. Seriously, Samardzija and the bullpen have to make 1-0 hold up. That's the only way we win. Samardzija doesn't trust anyone on the team. He's doing this himself.
  21. But that is a ridiculously aggressive path and this front office has at spoken about wanting guys to get full seasons at each level. They also aren't in contention so they would be wasting his cheapest pre-arb years while losing. I don't see them wanting him up unless he absolutely makes them look like idiots for keeping him down. His terrible start has prevented that from being an issue. The whole "year in AAA" thing was just an excuse to delay Rizzo and see if they could get a hot start from LaHair and trade him. They don't really believe it.
  22. To be clear, that is exactly what I thought going into the year. "Thinking he is ready" is a nebulous concept. It is almost June and his season has been terrible so far. I don't see how a great month or two will suddenly convince anybody that he has to be in the majors and is just wasting his time in AAA. It would fit in with his development path so far though. Struggles for two months, figures something out, and then destroys a league for 1.5-2 months. My guess is that he'll be up in September, unless he has an absolutely terrible year in AAA.
