  1. I agree he has a ton of potential, but we need to win NOW I'm sick of waiting. He also had a really bad ankle injury that no one really talks about. If that lingers it could really stunt his progression.
  2. What has he accomplished so far? G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG AVG 59 240 41 73 17 5 11 25 133 16 53 13 9 .349 .554 .304 Besides the Home Runs nothing there overwhelms me. He was on pace to strike out over 100 times in AA!!! No speed guy should ever have numbers that high. His stolen bases arent real high and he got caught stealing almost as much as he made it. I see the next coming of Corey Patterson!!!!
  3. I would love to have Dunn, but I dont think that the Reds will ever trade him in the division.
  4. I dont necsessarily want Encarnacion (hes not my first option) I was just answering his question. I would rather have Reggie Sanders.
  5. Pierre only made 3.5 million this season and is Arbitration Elligible. He won't make 8 Mil after the season he had last year.
  6. I have never seen Felix Pie play. I know from what I read that he is a very quick guy who saps the ball. Ive also read that he is a good defender with a great arm. I also read that he strikes out a lot and is not the best base stealer. All we have hear over the past few years is that Pie is a top prospect ready to take Coreys job. recently though, people have looked at him closer now that he could be traded and im hearing more that he is only a little above average, struggles with the strike zone, and has a low OBP. Now I'm not as big as most on this board with OBP but for my leadoff guy its very important. I have also heard him drawing many comparisons to Corey Patterson lately. Last night George Hufman was on the Score and he said many GMs would be interested in Pie. He also said that many were saying that he is not as good a prospect as many people think. I think I would give up Pie for Pierre, both are young center fielders. And we already know what Pierre can do. Especially when he can lay bunts in to the high Wrigley grass and watch the sit there. I would also give up Pie for Dunn imagine the best lefty power hitter in the game between Lee and A-Ram. I think Pie is expendable but if your gonna trade him get another young guy.
  7. I take Furcal and Encarnacion. There younger, quicker, and they would be cheaper.
  8. Why not have them so they can both get on base?
  9. I have been reading posts all day and the majority of people dont want Pierre and Furcal because they think there are better options. These are two of the best leadoff hitters in the game. Last year in June and July when we were seeing CPatt and Neifi 1-2 everyday we all would have probly threw a parade and declared ourselves world champs if we were told we could have Furcal and Pierre. Now we dont want them? we NEED Pierre and Furcal so we can generate runs so we dont have to wait for the three run bomb when the wind is blowing in at 30 miles per hour.
  10. From Dodgers.com "There is speculation that the Dodgers will deal outfielder Milton Bradley, whose controversies in two seasons included a run-in last year with teammate Jeff Kent and former manager Jim Tracy. Kent, who met with ownership two weeks ago, has told teammates he would ask for a trade if Bradley returns. If that baggage hasn't made Bradley untradeable, his September knee surgery probably has. Club officials have said they are hopeful Bradley's repaired patellar tendon will be healed for the start of spring training, although it might not be until the All-Star break." Interesting may or may not move him now.
  11. I dont think hes a good center piece player either, but he is a good fit for the club.
  12. Assuming we get Furcal and Pierre which seems to be what almost everyone thinks. We need a good power bat in right. I dont htink Giles wants to come to the Cubs and he is the only left handed power hitting free agent. While a left hander would be nice any kond of production works. A guy who is flying under the radar is Reggie Sanders. Reggie is older but he they say he has a good work ethic and is a good guy. Last year in 295 AB's he hit .271 with a .340 OBP. He had 21 HR 54 RBI and 14 SB. Project that over a full year and he could have put up around 35-40 homers and 100 RBI. Not to mention 25-30 SB for a corner outfielder. He also plays a decent outfield and has an average arm. I think he would fit good on the Cubs and would be a more than capable 5 hitter. The teams he has been on (besides the Pirates) also go to the World Series. What do ya think?
  13. Now that makes sense I suppose I should have caught the sarcasm. My Bad
  14. If you think that Pierre and Furcal would only be a slight improvement you must be smoking something. Those are two of the best leadoff men in the game.
  15. Why do you think it would be a good battle? What do you think the Cubs need to add to make sure it is not a good battle? Because if there were people on base last year Lee would have drove in about 160 runs. Aramis and Burnitz would have had many more RBI as well.
  16. Stoney was just on with Murph. He reiterated what has been being said all day on here. He think the Cubs will get Furcal and Pierre. He said Hendry will trade a few of the young guys for Pierre, he thinks Hendry will do almost anyhting yo get him. Said Cubs wont be only bidder for Furcal Said Pie will be a good player, but isnt the best prospect ever and is not untouchable Also said he would bat Pierre 1 and Furcal 2 All of these rumors are pretty consistent, I'm starting to believe more and more that Pierre and Furcal will be Cubs
  17. There is no way Hendry trades Pie. The Marlins just ask for a lot because they want to see just how interested and high Hendry is willing to go. I think Hendry will get Pierre, but Pie will not be involved.
  18. Reported on the Score during the update that the Marlins aren't to interested in Patterson. They want Pie for Pierre. Also reported that Hendry wants Furcal and Pierre at the top of the order and is working on a deal to get Pierre without Pie. I say give don't give them Pie. Give em Patterson, Pinto, and Mitre
  19. I have the MLB Innings thing where you get all the games. I have watched Mench and he is just an average player. He frequently takes bad lines to the ball and overruns them. His arm is also just average. I watched quite a bit of their games and Mench is just an average all around player.
  20. Peter Gammons predicted last night on Sportscenter that Furcal will go to the Cubs and he expects a deal to get done pretty quick. He said Hendry has lots of things that he wants to do so he will try to wrap up Furcal quick.
  21. Mench is not good. He is slow sucks at the outfield and he is not that good of a hitter. Similar to Burnitz in numbers.
  22. Thursday article in Newsday says: "Many team officials hold large reservations over pursuing Milton Bradley, whom the Dodgers will trade for virtually nothing." Why not give the Dodgers a mid level prospect for him and tell Dusty to play his little cheerleader game for him. Bradley may be similar to Terell Owens, but maybe he can fit in and he is a good player. Especially if you can get him for almost nothing. However, the way Hendry and Dusty played the clubhouse chemistry card last year I doubt it will happen. What do you guys think?
  23. Ken Rosenthals 11/4 article says: The Cubs are talking about re-signing infielder Neifi Perez to a two-year deal — even after exercising second baseman Todd Walker's $2.5 million option for 2006. If the Cubs sign Furcal, they can trade Walker and allow Perez and Ronny Cedeno to compete at second base next spring. Perez, 32, sports a paltry career .301 on-base percentage, and he grounded into 22 double plays last season, third most in the NL. His nine homers and 54 RBIs, however, represented his highest totals since 2000, when he was with the Rockies … If Hendry does this he is an idiot. Neifi deserves a one year deal tops. I will really be disappointed if he gets a starting job.
