  1. Nick's? yes, actually! we're starting out at Nick's, I believe. Enjoy. I'm jealous. Though I'll be there Saturday and Sunday, probably.
  2. 2003 was the best I ever did as well. Entry was two for $10 were I worked, with the top-3 spots winning some money. I got first and third. Thanks 'Melo.
  3. I had Northwestern St. over Iowa in 2006. Beat that bro! I had Kent St. to the elite 8 when they went Hmm . . . and who did they lose to? 15/19 3's. Suckas. (With me in attendance.)
  4. I had Northwestern St. over Iowa in 2006. Beat that bro! Weber State over North Carolina in 1999.
  5. YES! Second straight year I picked a 13 over a 4. Cleveland State over Wake Forest last year. Yeah, I'm bragging.
  6. I think Tennessee won the award for "worst reaction to bracket placement" for this year. Makeup call for '06 I almost benefited immensely from that overseeding. I picked 15-seeded Winthrop. So close. Oh well. Me too. I got pissed when I checked out ESPN's national bracket, and like 7% of people picked it. Davidson in the Final 4 2 years ago, would've been my finest moment. HE HAD CURRY OPEN FOR THE 3!!! CMON!!! I've actually picked a 14 over 3 correctly; I really wanted that 15 over a 2 for bragging rights. Pretty amazing 7% of the people picked it. Davidson to the Final Four would have been a huge coup.

  8. Really? I think the middle game figures to be the best. Heading down to your neck of the woods to watch games tomorrow, Exile. I'm far more excited than I should be. Nick's?
  9. Really? I think the middle game figures to be the best.
  10. I can only hope the NCAA is as good as the NIT has been so far. A few real entertaining games; so with the increased talent level hopefully the NCAA is even better.
  11. I know the efficiency metrics love Wisconsin; but my eyes tell me the best teams in the Big Ten were definitely Purdue with Hummel and Ohio State. Subjective, sure. But I feel extremely confident that subjectivity is correct.
  12. What does any of that mean? We had a better record head to head than Wisky, beat them there handily. Had a better non conference schedule with better wins, are we better than them? First, Illinois absolutely, positively did not have better wins non-conference than Wisconsin. That's another dream world. Second, Wisconsin had a better overall record, better Big Ten record, etc. than Illinois. That's was not the case with Michigan State and Purdue with Hummel. Records and head-to-head wins aren't dispositive, obviously. However, I see no objective calculus that shows Michigan State is better than Purdue with Hummel. I'm no Purdue fan, but they were clearly better. Hell, Purdue sans Hummel still got a better seed than Michigan State.
  13. People think Michigan State was better than Purdue (with Hummel)? Seriously? Sorry, that's some dream world (wish I was living in it too. . .). No one remembers the drubbing Purdue put on the Spartans in East Lansing, I guess. Or the better record or the better non-conference resume. OK, I need a shower now. As to the Purdue kids, Byrd is going to be good. I never thought much of Bade and wasn't exactly sure he was Purdue-caliber. Therefore, I celebrated his recruitment.
  14. Me neither. Though I will have them in the Sweet 16.
  15. Pretty much. There's not much in Evansville. I despise that place (I grew up there). However, it is rather attractive down by the Ohio River.
  16. I doubt you could find someone that likes Evansville less than I do; however, it's not exactly ugly: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_hMZm4_BV6dM/SRS54bDmgnI/AAAAAAAACKM/MzBikr4yFMo/s400/Riverfront_Greenway_cover_shot.jpg http://www.markmccoyphotography.com/images/evansville/riverfront.rectangle.night.med.jpg http://www.kddk.com/images/firm_banner.jpg /end post no one cares about.
  17. In person. (Bracket Buster at Hinkle.) I wasn't terribly impressed; I think Purdue will probably win. It's not surprising Siena will be a trendy upset pick though: (1) they've played well in the tournament two straight years, and (2) Purdue looked awful in their last game and Hummel's injury changes the complexion of their team.
  18. I really didn't lay that on thick enough?
  19. So you've got this coach universally regarded as an excellent coach; however, his recruiting is questionable. He then all of a sudden begins recruiting like gangbusters. FIRE HIM.
  20. Me neither. I'm impressed with what they've done this year, but I don't believe they are great by any means. I will likely have the Xavier-Minnesota winner knocking them off; with that probably being Xavier.
  21. Indiana high school coaches share this sentiment.
  22. Me too. They're such an unlikeable team. Nice take-down by Orton though.
  23. Man, I hate hearing "But they lost to Utah and Bradley." So? I've really understood the bad loss logic vis-a-vis tournament selection (outside of perhaps a last-resort tiebreaker). If Illinois gets in, who are they more likely to play: a team like Utah/Bradley or a team like Michigan State/Wisconsin/Vandy/Clemson? The tournament -- with the exception of the real low seeds, of course -- is about good teams playing good teams. Not good teams playing bad teams. How a team has fared against other good teams is a salient factor; how a team has fared against bad teams is a red herring. It's simply not terribly instructive for the NCAA Tournament. End rant.
  24. I agree, but I just have a really bad feeling. Well, I don't blame you at all. If you put a gun to my head I'd probably say they get left out. I just don't think they should be left out.
