  1. His post-season (or whatever you want to call this) picks are always laughable.
  2. For the most part, it's something I may watch the end of, watch while doing something else, or watch intermittently. At least until later in the playoffs and even then not necessarily.
  3. It's a little different when a player actually suited up for a team (and Bassett and Allen weren't Sampson recruits, anyway). Or even committed. McCallum was long gone and everyone had forgotten about him -- at least him coming to IU. Definitely no teeth gnashing for him.
  4. Couple series I'm really looking forward to. Specifically, Nuggets-Jazz and Lakers-Thunder (haven't really seen the Thunder play much). The other two West series should be good as well, and Mavericks-Spurs is another outstanding matchup for the first round. Not sure any of the series in the East thrill me.
  5. Sure, possibly. My post wasn't a qualitative assessment, simply factual. The NBA Playoffs are way, way longer than the NCAA Tournament. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is an opinion.
  6. Yet another bitter pill for Indiana fans This is a joke right? Wasn't it assumed McCallum would wind up at IU while his dad was an assistant there? Of course. He was set to join a team of drug dealers and malcontents coached by a cheater (actually more than just one cheating coach). You don't think Indiana fans have moved on from that point? We were, en masse, thrilled that the swamp was drained. That swamp included Ray McCallum Sr. No bitter pill here at all.
  7. Sure, if you include the conference tournaments in "March Madness" it's about a month. However -- and I apologize for presumptuousness/talking out of place -- most casual fans, of which I believe OMC is, don't care much about the conference tournaments. To them, "March Madness" is exclusively the actual NCAA Tournament. The NCAA tournament itself lasts about 2.5 weeks with games only being played on 10 days (excluding the play-in game). That is substantially shorter than the NBA Playoffs.
  8. Yet another bitter pill for Indiana fans This is a joke right?
  9. I just dropped him. For what?? Catcher is so thin this year, I can't imagine anyone of value being on waivers A non-catcher. I have Matt Wieters. We also have very few bench spots.
  10. I think Johnson will stay in. Believe he wanted to turn pro last year as well.
  11. Welp, officially time for me to ramp up my casual/fairweather fandom from checking box scores/occasionally watching to watching all the games.
  12. Evidently Directv believes it already did. Seriously, though, this sucks. I took the day off because I have an interview for another job today, yet I can't watch the game. Ugh.
  13. There's never anything good on WGN? Cubs games! Oh. . .
  14. WTH!?!?!? WGN is no longer part of Directv's basic package? Seriously? How is that even possible?
  15. No, same state and class as Carlino (well, same state Carlino is currently in at least). Zeller? Zellers? I heard an off-the-wall rumor that Cody Zeller was going to choose IU and his brother Tyler was transferring from UNC. Yeah, that's been the crazy internet rumor of the month(s). I still have hope IU can land Cody though.
  16. Yeah, not football; but I was thinking the basketball team might have some support.
  17. It definitely does not compare to a Big Ten school in that regard, but the seeds are there. I know some alums and they love going to games and are big into it, but NYC in general is a pro sports town; it's all Yankees, Mets, Giants, Jets, Knicks and Rangers with the others also drawing interest. I'd say Rutgers fandom is bigger than Nets fandom though, and along the lines of the Devils. Moderately sized but quite passionate. It's tough when your conference has been made over and rivals have been spread out among various teams. And schools like Louisville, UConn, Cincy and Pitt have no cache here. Have them play PSU, OSU and Michigan on a regular basis and the interest will rise. UConn doesn't? You know better than I, just surprising to me.
  18. Aren't we all? Ha ha. Oops. I meant to say "old for his class." Doh.
  19. Carlino being able to graduate early has been a big plus since the Bruins are so weak in the backcourt. Just curious, what is Peegs? Oh, sorry I spoke to you as if you were an Illinois fan. Peegs is the main IU message board, ran by Mike Pegram ("peegs") out of Columbus, IN (it's now a rivals.com site though). I believe you can certainly consider this information accurate. Well, the UCLA Scout board now has confirmation that Howland has been in Bloomington. I'm pretty pleased as UCLA desperately needs the backcourt depth and scoring (of course, I can't imagine a kid skipping his SR year of high school would be able to contribute much his freshman year). Well, he's old for his age and pretty physically mature. I think he'd have a shot to contribute some.
  20. First, let me say (i) Notre Dame's academics are very good; and (ii) in no way do I think the Big Ten would decline Notre Dame. However, Notre Dame isn't necessarily the best academic fit. They're not a big research university from my understanding. They're not a member of the Association of American Universities. I don't see either being a roadblock -- I think the Big Ten would LOVE to add Notre Dame -- but the academics aren't as natural of a fit as one might expect.
  21. That's actually pretty good information. Why wouldn't ESPN talk about that more to try and combat the Duke hate? I've been compiling a list; I have done Duke, Michigan State, UNC, Kansas, Kentucky, Purdue, Illinois, Syracuse, Ohio State, WVU, Wisconsin, Villanova so far. Obviously the final number needs to be adjusted for a few things to get a sense of the officiating (physicality of team being the biggest) Which schools would you think have the most fouls called per possession and which the least? So far, 3 schools have been called for way less fouls per possession than any of the other teams. Any guesses? Any more schools that you would be interested in? Wisconsin rarely fouls. I'd also guess Syracuse because of the zone. Ohio State plays a lot of zone, so perhaps them too.

  23. Hey Raisin, according to Peegs Howland was at Bloomington South's open gym. Even rumors Carlino will graduate early and suit up for the Bruins next year.
