  1. I would bet Pie is the center piece in the deal. This is a salary dump they're probably not wanting to take Jones back. I can see Pie and Marshall for Griffey. And I would do that in a heartbeat. That would be an absolutely awful trade for the Cubs. I hope you aren't serious. That said, I'm all for getting Griffey, Jr., for the right price.
  2. Seriously? What bathroom DID you go to? I've been to bathrooms all over the park and I can't think of one without the big trough. Me too. I've been to at least a dozen games and sat in both the upper and lower decks and I've always seen the trough. Yeah, I can't recall not seeing a trough. I've sat all over the place, too.
  3. Considering how bad Floyd is defensively in right, dealing for Dunn might upgrade our defense. For someone that has such a man-crush on Dunn, you are either extremely myopic, or you just don't watch the ballgames. Dunn is the WORST defensive outfielder I've seen in a long time. A one-legged Cliff Floyd is still a superior defender to Dunn on his best day. And Dunn is a one-dimensional zero with declining peripherals. Total yuck. Now, you want to talk Junior, I'm on board with that idea. And I love the Marshall + Murton idea. But enough of the Adam Dunn lust, I want no part of him. I do watch enough games to know that Dunn gets to balls a lot quicker than Floyd who runs like my grandma. Dunn's line this year: 259/349/549. He's also added 7 SB this season to go with his 23 HR. Dunn is not good defensively, but neither is Floyd. Both are bad in RF. Dunn would be no worse than Floyd. If you've watched Floyd gimp after balls for the past month, I don't see how you can conclude otherwise. By the way, other than Cubs v Reds, how many Reds games have you watched this year? I'd take Dunn, but he would be much worse than Floyd in RF. Seriously, have you seen his keystone cops routine in LF? His offense likely would outweigh his defensive issues, but he would be a travesty in RF.
  4. Yeah, but he is a cub. He should expect that. Ask Kerry Wood, it happens. Zambrano: 5.64 Marquis: 5.63 Marshall: 5.63 Lilly: 4.70 Hill: 3.49 Maybe Hill will have to get used to it, but nobody else on the staff seems to be having this problem with any regularity. Crazy how close Zambrano, Marquis and Marshall's run support are to each other's.
  5. Yeah, that was bad. Len must not be completely awake.
  6. Which again begs the question, "How is that incurring more debt for the new owner when we have to pay him if we keep him?" Actually, neither begs the question. OK, "Go away grammar/syntax police."
  7. The double switch with Scott Eyre and Jacque Jones. This will end well, I'm sure...
  8. he's not a big league pitcher. once mlb teams get a book on him they can hit him. rich hill is learning that lesson He started 24 games last year and has started 7 this year. It's not like this is his fifth career start. I would think teams have seen him enough already to have a book on him. Nope. Book was released just this morning.
  9. Horrible swing by Lee. Good, nice job ARam, really needed to get that run home.
  10. That was awful. And let's watch the game, instead of watching Ryan Dempster make a butt of himself.
  11. From what I gathered from reading SBI, What's SBI? I'm looking new places to read up on footie. also, i'd be interested in a prem fantasy league. Me too. I've played before, but not with anyone I remotely know. It'd be nice to at least play with posters from here, likely would make it more interesting.
  12. It's more than a feeling. It's a statistical method that he outlines in that article and evaluates against previous drafts. You're welcome to your feelings on Noah. I'm more inclined to trust Paxson based on his track record and trust Hollinger based on his stats. His statistical analysis in this regard is pure and utter crap. Refer to my earlier post -- or just the article itself -- to see the absurd rankings from past years. The rankings may have promise, but right now it's as raw as Yi. That said, I think Noah was a good pick for the Bulls. Who else was there at #9? I would rank Julian Wright and maybe Nick Young ahead of Noah. But Noah will help more next season -- and he WILL help next season, do not think otherwise -- and, if the concern is redundancy, Wright is superfluous with Deng. Noah will not get abused down low like some think, he's stronger than he looks, he's long and very athletic. He's going to be a good shot blocker/rebounder, if not a great scorer. And Acie Law? Please.
  13. Count on him being drafted in the first. Bad call. Zing. I think he should've been drafted in the first, if that makes you feel any better. I also thought he would be.
  14. he won't. he's said he's not going back to China, and even though is "people" wanted him to land in a major metropolitan city, I doubt he walks away from the Bucks I wouldn't be surprised if the Bucks trade Yi. He doesn't want to be there, and the Bucks just picked up the options of Bogut and Villanueva. The Bucks need a point guard and that Sessions kid out of Nevada isn't it. I have heard a few unsubstantiated rumors floating around of the Bucks looking to acquire last years #6 pick in the draft Devin Harris who is from Milwaukee. Devin Harris was the 5th pick in the 2004 draft. But, otherwise, I agree that a Yi trade seems imminent.
  15. Prepare to be surprised. Not saying I agree with it, I vehemently don't, but everyone places him that high. Ha ha. Hey, I'm glad I was wrong I should've been wrong. No way I think McRoberts is that good, but he'd been considered a lottery prospect for over two years. I don't think enough of NBA teams to expect the correct decisions.
  16. Big, slow, lumbering 7-foot white guy.
  17. Also, I thought Crittenton was a curious pick for the Lakers. They just used a first round pick on a PG last season (Farmar) and Crittenton is a developmental prospect. Makes me wonder if they're thinking trade...Pacers need a PG...
  18. Noah was a good pick for the Bulls relative to who was there. I am by no means a Noah fan and he would've been a terrible pick much higher, but I likely would've taken him if I was the Bulls. They desperately need interior scoring, but they also really need size. I also think Noah fits the Skiles-Bulls paradigm. Julian Wright and Nick Young could be big steals, I think both were top-10 players in the draft. The Knicks-Blazers trade was ridiculous. I'm not a huge Randolph fan, but Portland got nothing in return. Francis is crap (though if he's cut and they get cap space that certainly has value). Frye is a creampuff who regressed last season and will be a bench player in Portland behind Oden and Aldridge. I am unsure how well Randolph and Curry will coexist, but I definitely make the trade if I'm in the Knicks. EDIT: This is from awhile ago, but Oden and Conley played HS ball at LAWRENCE North not LawrenceVILLE North. Also, Stu Scott also called Acie Law "Acie Earl." Moron.
  19. I'd guess Brandon Wright, so yes.
  20. That's been rumored. Seems like a fair trade, though I have no idea how to evaluate Yi.
  21. Awesome. I'm pumped that the Bucks too Yi. I hope they don't trade him. I don't like when players (or countries) try to influence where they go.
  22. Honestly, I think the talent from 5 to the middle of the first round is fairly clustered together. I don't think very much separates someone like Jeff Green from Thaddeus Young, you know? Yeah, that's basically my point. If you just took a SF at #2, why would you take one again at #5, unless he was clearly the best prospect available? He's not, he's in a group of about 10 players that I consider very close.
  23. I like Green a lot, however, if he's going to Seattle I'm still unsure how he fits with Durant. Also, I don't think Green is the fifth best player in the draft.
