It's a relatively recent development. He's always been the most emotional of the group, but in the last 20-30 games (RIGHT AFTER THE ALL STAR GAME, HMM) it's kind of become overbearing. Until Rose hurt his ankle the Bulls had a decided advantage in terms of being rested and healthy relative to the rest of the contenders. That was the silver lining of Booz and Noah missing so much time. Plus SA, Boston, and LA are just old as [expletive]. Miami's older too.

Yeah there is. Don't take them. He's not a good three point shooter. Pretty simple. I went over this a few weeks ago. If the defense is going to go sag off, go underneath screens, etc. then the right play is for Rose to take the open 3. Of course he has to make them at a reasonable clip for them to be the right play. But he's obviously a better shooter than he's shown this series. Fact is, when he's playing off of Bogans, Brewer, and Deng (to a lesser extent) the defender is always going to take the option of collapsing into the lane (or he's already camping in it) to take away the dribble drive. The Bulls have blown the doors off of teams in the 4th all season because we stick Korver in and he either gets wide open looks or the lane is available for Rose all the way to the hoop. What I don't get is why we don't run the same offense for stretches of the game before the last few minutes. It works! I do agree that Rose forced some looks that weren't there this series. No doubt. But over the course of the year he's really taken about the same amount of 3s as any other legit superstar perimeter scorer and made them at a similar clip Who? list them. LeBron takes about 2 fewer than rose. wade too. kobe is the only one thats close, but he's a chucker and that's not helping him either. rose is shooting like 30% since december. that's atrocious. it would be one thing if he was tkaing like 2-3 a game, but he's not. he's taking like 5-6 every night, and putting up like 8-9 is happening now too. If he's not making them we're not going anywhere. You're just vaguely hand waving about better options. What are they specifically? Yes, Rose needs to take (and make) wide open threes. There's no other option. He did take some bad ones today I agree. If you didn't notice, Rose trying to force his way into collapsed passing/driving lanes wasn't especially productive either.

Sure, it's not ideal. But if i'm in a tough playoff series and I'm the opposing coach I'm perfectly fine putting the game on Luol Deng's shoulders.

Basketball is the most frustrating sport to watch as a fan if you ask me. The opportunities for your team to do something stupid, for the refs to make a shitty call, and to generally make you want to break something are endless.

It'll probably be close again. Putting bigger wings on Rose has worked wonders. I bet Lebron guards Rose a lot if it comes down to that... probably. but theyll play better at the united center. and now its essential they close this out to get rose some rest. his shot is horrible right now. he needs rest badly. and his ability to finish and drive was not there today. The problem with Lebron on Rose is that means either Wade on Deng (because Chalmers/Bibby is clearly not an option). Deng would eat DWade alive. The Heat are going to have to put Wade on Rose, if the matchup happens. I don't see Wade guarding Deng as any big defensive mismatch. What makes you say that? Wade's a really good defender and Deng is limited on offense if he has to create.

Thibs' solution for offense is to scream about the defense even more.

This rest canard is really dumb and puzzling. The other contenders have been making deep playoff runs for years with old ass players. The Bulls haven't gotten out of the first round in years. 40% of the Bulls starting lineup missed a big chunk of the year. These are execution problems. I was more worried about Rose's ankle. 3-4 days of rest is a lot in an NBA schedule. The Bulls don't need more than a week of rust building up to complement their already horrible execution problems.
