  1. [tweet]https://twitter.com/billazbbphotog/status/870739225703981056[/tweet] Hits seem kinda rare for Adelman, though. Maybe a Barney type? I don't know what his spring stats are, but he's being looked at as a guy with extra base pop and 10-12 HR potential, with a solid hit tool.
  2. Alzolay finishes at 6 8 3 3 0 8, with 3/2 GO/FO, on 94 pitches.
  3. Breakout alert. Alzolay was something of a no-name coming into this season. Now he’s the guy everyone is going to be asking for this July. The 6-foot-1 right-hander is sitting 94-95 and topping out at 98 mph with a strong curveball, a solid changeup and enough feel to stick as a starter. He won’t lead a rotation at any point, but there’s immense value in mid-level starters, and scouts believe the 22-year-old Alzolay is just that. That's from Passan.
  4. Law sounds very sure of him self there. There's no way Allen would actually slip to their pick in the 2nd right? I don't think so. Supposedly both Toronto and Texas like him too. If we take Gonzalez at 27, I'd have to think its at a discount. Maybe even a VERY substantial one. As an example, if he's legitimately looked at as a top 75ish type talent....Slot at 75 is around 775,000.....You give him 1.2 and you're saving close to 1.2 from slot. Which is why I was wondering about Carlson or trying to find out who else has bonuses of 2.5 and up that fall to us at 30.....Is Allen a guy like THAT? I kind of doubt it, based on his profile alone. If anything, I was kind of looking at him as a guy you may SAVE a bit on at 27. At any rate, with Law signaling Gonzalez, he's heard SOMETHING. Gonzalez and Allen at 27 and 30 would be a surprise to me. Buuuuut, MAYBE they do that to save money on BOTH picks, and spend huge on pick 67? And grab 2 position players they're high on, in the process?
  5. Well, in Maddon's defense, he had just used 3 guys to hit into a DP the inning before.

  7. Idk, we are entering a new era for Cubs profitability. If they really wanted to they could and I'm sure they'd make exceptions/right maneuvering to bring Harper in if they wanted to because it's such a rare situation someone so young and so elite hits FA (it's really only A-Rod other than him who has). They kinda already showed this with Heyward, it was a unique situation where a very young and talented player (obviously not Harper level) hit FA so they made some spending exceptions it seems like. They weren't going to go spend probably even half of what they did, if anything, on any other FA outfielders. This CBA is going to make it extremely hard to stay over the LT. And I don't think any team is going to do it consistently.
  8. It'd be awesome. There's no way we're going to have 2 400 mill contracts between him and KB.
  9. Kellogg with a very nice outing of 6.2 4 2 2 1 4. 7/3 GO/FO on 96 pitches. Actually have the first eye witness report on him this year too. Think this is in order for him, as he says they're off in a tweet.... https://twitter.com/OGSchill/status/870422843657506818 https://twitter.com/OGSchill/status/870422843045163008 https://twitter.com/OGSchill/status/870422842688638980 https://twitter.com/OGSchill/status/870424569223499776 https://twitter.com/OGSchill/status/870424930898280453 Not surprising, was hoping the stuff had improved on some level.
  10. Hudson goes 5 5 2 2 1 0......Just threw 62 pitches, 36 strikes. 11/2 GO/FO. At this point, I think I look at these outings as being solid progress for him. At his age and his size, I'll assume he's got upside from where he's at and the grounders are good. Wish there was an eye witness report on his stuff.
  11. Thanks again, UK. Tribes, I've seen speculation that Shane Baz has high demands, or at least wants to be in control of who takes him, if he's not getting picked extremely high.(he's an Astros fan, fwiw). UK, what in the world happened to JJ Schwarz? The guy has literally went from being a potential top 5 pick heading into 2017, to not even being in the BA top 200.....That's got to be extremely rare. Especially for college hitters. Even a poor season wouldn't affect someone THAT much, I wouldn't think.....
  12. The timing of that is not good. Some arms just can't hold up to the added velo. James Kaprielan is the most recent example of an arm blowing up after extra mphs are discovered. But, do we even know what his injury was? I've not seen what caused him to miss the first part of the year. Obviously, he's already had TJS, so damn near everything is something we can find a reason to be concerned about.
  13. The Cubs winding up with two highly rated prospects, while in the penalty, would be awesome. Thank God for Mexico's stupid rules and for the loophole in the CBA. So glad we'll be out of the penalty box next year, but if we get those 2 guys, its like we're already out.
  14. In a strange piece of good news, Arguello was speaking to a scout recently that told him Moreno was SITTING mid-90's and had touched 98 this spring, before getting hurt. In the past, Arguello had never seen him TOUCH higher than 94. Needless to say, its something to pay attention to.
  15. He's only 22, he's definitely putting up solid numbers in Tennessee.(though he is repeating the level) The stuff was never eye popping and it seemingly had regressed a bit. But, there's not been any reports surface this season yet, on how he's actually throwing..... Is he a 6th starter type? Maybe. But, its probably for a team trying to be shitty. That said, we'll need to protect him after this season. If we add him to the 40 man, its a decent indicator of how we feel about him obviously. He's kind of a 50/50 guy, as far as that goes, to me BTW. My guess is one of him or Zack Hedges gets added. With the rest of the season determining which one.
  16. Yeah, that seems like something happened within the hour. Hopefully he's sick.
  17. BA article on Albertos.
  18. At least he kept his K/BB ratio in tact. Amazingly enough, it STAYED in tact. 5 13 8 8 0 0 lol
  19. I definitely ain't a scout. I looked up a report or two, they acted like he's not a liability out there. And honestly, as long as he's just passable, the bat is probably good enough to play most days, IMO.
  20. At least he kept his K/BB ratio in tact. I spoke too soon. He's still going lol. Scoreless 2nd anyway.
  21. Zack Hedges, not so great tonight.....1 9 7 7 0 0. I'm hoping he's done. But, that was on 34 pitches.
  22. Damn, Erling Moreno says hi with a 4 1 0 0 1 4 line on 43(31 strikes) pitches for SB tonight. 5/0 GO/FO too.
