  1. He also went 1-1 with 2 walks in game 1, against Michael Kopech.
  2. I like the spread it out approach this year. Its considered a weak draft, I'd rather spread my chances out. Don't get me wrong, if you've got a guy that's inside your top 10 sitting at 27, you're probably taking him. Unless he's literally tiered in with 15 others..... But, I can see under slotting at 27 and 30, leading you to finish the draft with 4 guys you have in your top 50, versus having 2 guys in your top 25. Realistically, I think the FO will under slot 27. But, that money may very well go to 30.....Rucker or Gonzalez, or other hitter like Hrubes mentioned in his post, to pair with a Carlson or Rogers......
  3. Well crap then.
  4. I didn't see it anywhere else. But yeah, that's still saltiness. This guys pissed he's on the other side of the rivalry.

  7. Show, I'm not completely sold they'll take a pitcher at 27 or 30. I can see two bats, followed by pitching in 2-10. Or at least close to that, maybe a position guy sprinkled in. Again, if they take position guys at 27 and 30, they'll save some money and still get at least one pitcher we'll be excited about for a while. The more I'm thinking about it, I'm kind of talking myself into Rucker AND Gonzalez at 27 and 30. My guess is you'd save 1.5 mill from slot, or in that range. You could get a 2 mill pitcher at 67, then still get another 7 figure pitcher in the 3rd too. Spread things out, give yourself more shots, in what's considered a weak draft.
  8. So, Rucker ain't disappointing in his first start..... 5 1 0 0 1 6, on 60 pitches so far. Daaaaaamn. Edit: final line actually.
  9. We're all over the place. We're being linked to lots of guys that seem to be 50-75 type of talents. Some are HS kids, so MAYBE they're not going to be under slot guys. But, it seems to me like they're trying to save some money at 27, to use on 30 or even 67. I think Rooker makes a ton of sense at 27. So does Gonzalez. Or any of the HS bats, if they're willing to take under slot. Take the best college pitcher available at 30. Then, with the 500000-1M you saved at 27, you have 1.9-2M to spend on the best HS arm that's fallen, due to signing demands. If you don't spend all the savings in the 2nd, spread it out over the 2nd and 3rd. Use slot for your 4-7 or 4-8 round picks, then senior signs in 9-10, or 8-10, to give yourself that extra 200-300k, to pair with your 5% money(close to 375k) and grab yourself a projectable top 200 arm, like we did with Clifton.
  10. Rucker is replacing Oscar de la Cruz, who went on the Myrtle Beach DL. I know. Preston Morrison went on Tennessee's DL too. So, someone's gotta take his place. I posted somewhere about the options yesterday. In the end, I figured it was probably Kellogg. With Robinson moving up to MB. Think slight chance of just moving Robinson straight to Tennessee too.
  11. And Tennessee's DH is rained out. Maybe its just me, but it seems like they've been on a Daytona type rainout schedule this year.
  12. Raisin beat me. Seriously? Hannemann? All the WTF's. Maybe its just to get Burks time in CF though.
  13. That's the biggest surprise yet to me. And wow, I think I'd have to jump on Faedo, if he's sitting there at 27.
  14. There we go! Rucker gets moved into the rotation. Be interesting to see the rest of the shake out, with Morrison on the DL.
  15. It took forever for milb to update the DSL game stats from Saturday night. Obviously, its hard to take much from complex ball, under any circumstance. But, there's maybe a few things to pay attention to..... First, the DSL 1 team is supposedly much better than the DSL 2 squad, according to Arguello. I'd think the opening day pitchers are supposed to be relatively highly thought of. Danis Correa, who is 17, received a 225,000 bonus last year, and went 5 3 1 0 0 0, for the DSL2 team yesterday. Yovanny Cruz, who is also 17, went 3 3 1 0 0 4, for the DSL1 team. The hitting I'd concentrate on are guys they've got in the first 4 spots of the lineup card. For DSL2, CF Ricardo Venezuela is in CF and was batting leadoff. He went 1-4, and is 17 and received a 300,000 bonus last year. Josue Huma played SS, is also 17, and received a 140,000 last year. He went 1-3. Orien Nunez played 2B and is surprisingly on this squad. He received 100,000 in 2015 and put up fairly solid numbers last year in the DSL, at .278/.344/.394. He was in EXST, but got sent back, to get playing time. The guy batting 4th is older. For DSL1, CF Fernando Kelli led off. He's toolsy, but had a poor year and is back in the DSL to refine his game. He's 18, needs to be solid this year. 1-5 yesterday. Luis Diaz is 18, played 2B, and received a 300,000 bonus in 2015. He's been to EXST too. We're well off, up the middle, or he'd likely be in Arizona. He went 1-5 yesterday. Christopher Morel is 18 and played SS. He was hurt last year, but was signed for 800,000 in 2015, while hurt. He's obviously well thought of, so he's definitely worth following. Has elicited some Starlin comps from Cubs guys. And he went 0-4 yesterday. Carlos Pacheco played CF and is 17. He got 100,000 last year and went 1-4 with a homer yesterday. The starting pitching will be worth paying attention to, if its younger, outside of just opening day. Anyone 17-18, that's playing well actually. But, I do think they give you a few hints with things and these guys are likely the ones to follow. Henderson Perez, a C, got 1.25M in 2015. I think he's still down there too, but didn't play. With that bonus, he's worth following obviously. But, guys with small bonuses frequently wind up as the best signings too, so its a trapshoot, to say the least.
  16. At this point, its too jumbled to truly find who may be selling. But, its kind of looking like there's not going to be that many teams that do.... AL East Buyers- Yankees, Red Sox Who knows? Orioles, Rays, and Blue Jays Toronto is getting healthy. They're 2 out of the 2nd WC. So is Tampa and at a quick glance, I think their June schedule could put them IN a WC spot, heading into July. Even though Baltimore is tied with Cleveland for the 2nd WC, I think they actually may be the best bet of a team in the AL East to wind up as sellers. That said, they'll probably stand pat. I think the Jays probably try to buy as well, once alls said and done. AL Central Buyers- Cleveland Who knows? Minnesota, Detroit, KC Sellers- White Sox Minnesota is likely to try buying, especially if they stay over .500. Detroit is probably looking for a reason to sell, but I doubt they'd pull the trigger, unless they're more than 5 games out of a playoff spot. Saw some rumblings that KC is HOPING for a hot streak to give this group one last shot. I don't see it and think they'll sell off quite a bit. AL West Buyers- Astros Who knows? Rangers, Mariners Sellers- A's, Angels The division is over. The Mariners aren't known as big sellers. The Rangers are interesting, but I bet they'll be close enough to a WC, that they'll stand pat or even attempt to add. Trout killed the Angels WC chances by getting hurt, but I doubt they'll sell off much. Billy is going to have fun this deadline and probably jump the market. NL East Buyers- Nationals Who knows? Mets, Marlins Sellers- Braves, Phillies The division is over here too. The Mets will probably make a run at some point or at least stay in the WC enough, to not sell. The Phillies are a dumpster fire, the Braves will sell off a few pieces, and the Marlins are rumored to sell off bigly. Still, their impending sale gives me pause on them actually doing it. NL Central Buyers- Cubs Who knows? Brewers, Cards, Pirates Sellers- Reds I'll guess the Brewers stand pat. The Cards probably try to add, at worst, they'll hold. The Pirates may wind up selling, but I can see them holding things together for one last run, before giving up. I think the Reds will sell, even if they're somehow within striking distance. NL West Buyers- Dodgers, Rockies Who knows? Diamondbacks, Giants Sellers- Padres The Dodgers and Rockies will buy. The Diamondbacks seem like they prefer selling, but there's no way they do, unless they really tank these next 50 games. I don't see it. The Giants just aren't going to blow things up, even if they should consider moving a few guys. Leaves the Pads to sell off spare parts.... In the end, if I'm going to predict the teams I've listed as question marks..... Total Sellers- Royals, White Sox, Angels, A's, Braves, Phillies, Reds, Padres If that IS it, the prices are going to be insane.
  17. https://twitter.com/statcast/status/871569713683349504 14% on that Heyward grab. Pretty horsefeathering awesome.
  18. You don't need to try and kill Cardinals. They do that themselves.
  19. I'm not sure Heyward isn't a genius right there. He may have did that to make sure Rizzo scored. Baited everyone.
  20. Why? Getting caught in between a take out slide and a drop kick can happen to anyone.
  21. I'm sure he can get a TV job, but if not give him Coomer's job before he leaves town. I hope he stays in TV until Joe retires. I have to think he's going to manage at some point.
  22. Needs to be mentioned.....Ross is horsefeathering fantastic announcing.
  23. We are still better than them, so I don't really care who's drooling over what Honestly, the Astros are fucked. The best team wins what? Like 3 times out of the last 20 or so? And we just did it last year. I'm looking forward to pissing the world off with an average playoff team, that just "knows how to win".
