  1. If you're a Bulls fan, it's time to pull for Charlotte to finish outside the bottom 10. This year is as good as its going to get.
  2. He was with the Dodgers in some capacity last year. Maybe as an assistant GM?
  3. Rangers aren 't going to try and keep Garza. That trade worked out well for them. Daniels mentioned he didn't see them going after FA SP looking for longterm deals. Hey, one less Tanaka suitor anyway. They did mention looking to trade for SP, not sure I see a fit with Shark though. In fact, after Dempster and Garza, they may decide not to trade for our pitching for a while.
  4. By the way, Parks mentioned Soler as a top 30 type and said the other 3 are all in top 10-15 range. In talking Rangers, he said CJ wouldn't have been in his top 5, but a top 10 guy. In other words, not a top 100 guy for him.
  5. Bryant 1-4, Almora 1-4 with an RBI, and Soler 1-3, with a BB and an RBI.
  6. He'd bring back more than that. I'm not so sure. Midseason last year, maybe? But he fell off the grid late. Strong side of a platoon for 4 mill that gives you a likely .750/.800 OPS? Maybe you get a top 10 org guy back, but honestly, Pineyro and Black are close to that in some orgs as it is.
  7. Man, I like Rosenthal a ton. But pixie dust on Starlin turns him into Tulo. So no. Just no.
  8. No clue. I honestly didn't know he was until I read it here. How about one big get out of jail free card for everyone? Hell, that Beer Kaese guy is back and he told us all to begin the fornication process with each other, along with saying the site sucked. Hell, he wasn't gone but a week or so. Let them all back and if they suck, systematically eliminate them again.
  9. Accounts or just changed his name a lot? I remember him as WeGotWood.
  10. I know you'd see 3 pages of him versus everyone, but I didn't view it like seeing Neely doing it. Everyone ends up on the wrong end of an argument, I at least thought he defended himself with points(even if most disagreed with them) we've got others that just make stuff up or change arguments midstream. Or just "Boy Genius" things as their final stake.
  11. I had no issue myself with either, but thought it'd be worth sharing..... Senor Gato(KingKongGodzilla) "NSBB is a decent board. It's OK to make a joke about molesting kids there, just don't cross the line and joke about rape." DaveArm"NSBB could be a decent Cubs board. Instead its a cesspool of intolerant elitist bully know it alls. I get there's that element on every board, but on NSBB it is so vocal and overpowering as to make the place unbearable." Posted on PSD a bit ago. Again, I had no issue with either, but I didn't venture off the baseball stuff much back when they posted. At any rate, I say bring them back, it'd add to a lackluster offseason where we mostly agree this [expletive] sucks.
  12. If you're going to require a top 20 pitching prospect for Shark, you're boxing yourself in to just Walker(not a team likely to be involved), Bradley, Taillon, and Bundy(injury). Not leaving much to negotiate with.
  13. Theo said looking for pitching for "now and in the future" I don't see a Scott Baker, I see a trade for a cost controlled younger guy.
  14. http://www.robertfeder.com/2013/11/11/eight-ex-cubs-on-wgns-shortlist/ I've paid extremely little to this, but really? Theriot is a candidate?
  15. Seems that he'll be posted quickly though. At least it's been implied in quite a few things I've read.
  16. Yeah, for that matter, it wouldn't 't shock me if Cruz gets 3/42ish either.
  17. OK, so only the top team gets to negotiate with Tanaka, but pays average of top 3 bids. Again, not likely to be us.....But I think I like our chances better than having Tanaka choose between 3 teams.
  18. Boras can yap all he wants about his track record and all, but he's getting burnt on Morales. If he winds up anywhere other than Seattle, for less than the QO, at that, I'll be shocked. But how many of the 13 players, who turned down the qualifying offers, will actually average more than $14.1M per year on their next contract? Looking at the list below, I think only Cano, Choo, Ellsbury, Kuroda and McCann will. Carlos Beltran, Robinson Cano, Shin-Soo Choo, Nelson Cruz, Stephen Drew, Jacoby Ellsbury, Curtis Granderson, Ubaldo Jimenez, Hiroki Kuroda, Brian McCann, Kendrys Morales, Mike Napoli, Ervin Santana. I'd add Beltran, Granderson, Jimenez, and Santana to that. As for the others(outside of Morales) it's still better to get a multi-year deal at 10+ per, than to take the 14.1 when all those left have significant ?'s and could have bad years and not get close to the same offer again.

  20. If I'm getting even-money odds, I'll take the under on 250. It's too easy to leave him down for service time and polish on a bad team, even if he could handle it. Service time wouldn't have anything to do with keeping him under 250. 3 months is more than enough to avoid super 2 I'm saying that once you get past the halfway point of the season, it becomes easier to wait until after next year's service-time deadlines. Why bring him up in August when you can wait until September and then hold him down for a month in 2015? Because keeping Baez at AA for a year and a half would be asinine. They've already said Javy starts at AAA next year.

Why bring him up in August when you can wait until September and then hold him down for a month in 2015? Thats one with an answer that many won't like: Ticket sales. If we sell off again, bringing Javy and/or KB up could make a sizeable difference towards the apathy that has set in over the last couple of second halves. Caveat being that they ARE ready, of course. If not, they won't be brought up for the sole reason of profits. Theo would quit if Ricketts demanded something like that.
  22. Shields' last two seasons before trade: 8.4 fWAR. Samardzija: 5.8 Price differential over the 2 years cuts into that somewhat at least.
  23. I'll be very surprised if Javy has not used up his rookie eligibility by then. KB is 50/50 for me as well. We'll see in a year. I would call your Javy timeline crazybuckets if not for the fact that it would leave me out of descriptions for your Bryant expectation. I mean, is it theoretically possible? Sure. But to expect it? Edit: Wait, I see the confusion. I meant *at the time of the pick*, not on the next official list. Ah, that was me wording that bad. I'll be disappointed if Javy isn't up by August 1st. And I think KB can push the envelope to where he is too. Over/under ML AB's for Javy next year for me is 250.....I agree it IS crazybuckets to think Javy or Bryant will have lost draft eligibility by draft time. I'll be shocked if either has a single ML AB at that time.
  24. That is some serious depth right there. First division upside types that are in the upper levels of your system, that aren't in the top 10. As for the answer on Maples and Blackburn, I don't consider us "pitching thin" at this point. I think that term is used somewhat for us having unreal hitting, which makes an averagish pitching crop look worse than it is.
  25. Taijuan Walker plz I'd love for Seattle to be wanting Castro, but I'm not sure Miller isn't going to perform just as well as Castro moving forward. And they're young at 2B and 3B as well.
