He's first on my "want" list too. Followed by Ruiz and Perez(if he winds up eligible). My hope is the Dodgers spend "Moncada" money on Lazariti and they stay off most of the others. With the small amount of teams we're actually competing with for these guys, there's going to be some definite bargains to be had. The Giants don't seem like a team that's going to go on a big spree or anything. They'll get a couple of lower end guys, in my opinion. Especially since it looks like they gave EJM's money to Fox, then couldn't still pay EJM as well.(at his initial price anyway) The Royals don't seem likely to make a big splash either. The Reds worked out EJM recently, so maybe they're thinking about blowing off next year to go after this class late. But again, the fact they wouldn't jump on EJM at THIS price, tells me they're not major factors either. Outside of the Dodgers, the Blue Jays seem like our biggest competition to me. And they may not even be in max penalty range yet, meaning there's a chance they're not competition at all. It's an absolute buyers market. Tons of players and not many true suitors. The key is going to wind up being how many of these guys do actually wind up eligible. But it's pointing towards bunches of them. Which gives us such a great opportunity to coat our system and do it cheaper than it'd cost at pretty much any other time. If there's any negative at all in any of this, it'd be that there's not that much pitching out there. Which is our biggest system need. But talent is talent and seeing us swoop in on EJM like this(no matter the end result upside honestly) tells me we'll be very active in bargain hunting here all year long.
