It's unfortunate he's going to get non tendered. I can't imagine they pay him the 7+M he's set to make in arbitration just to be a reliever. I'd bet we tender him. He's not only excellent out of the pen, but could get stretched out for further SP depth. Not to mention, it's conceivable he'd be tradable too at 1/6.5-7ish.
With a 2-1 Cubs lead, they'd go Lackey in 4 on short rest. As pitiful as we've been with him, I'd be OK with short as [expletive] leash Hammel/bullpen game. They've got nobody for Lester and game 5, if we lost it.
@DavidHaugh: TBS also reports Cubs-Cardinals Game 1 was most viewed NLDS G1 since 2008 (5.4 million total viewers). I don't remember where this stuff was talked about, but I definitely remember seeing it somewhere. If Cubs/Cards outdrew Mets/Dodgers in prime time, that's pretty cool.
In typical IFA fashion, the Giants GM still thinks they've got a shot with EJM. I've got him as signed and I'm not changing it until we hear otherwise.
Right now, there are Card fans out there bitching that they're no hitting us thru 5, but they've only scored 1 run and will wind up blowing this game. Whoever they are, wherever they are, they're going to be correct.
