    Wouldn't go making reservations just yet. This is the type of game many average programs have blown in the past. I, personally, like Northwestern, but they're so damn inconsistent that they could blow it. Let's hope they don't because I doubt they beat MSU the following week. I'm not making any reservations.

    Northwestern 1 win away from bowl eligibility and a 15-point favorite vs. Minnesota. Did not see this happening a few weeks ago.

    That's pretty much a career highlight. Yep the alternative was a montage of blocked sliders in the dirt. with no one on base because it's a warm-up pitch between innings In a Spring Training game.

    You realize this means in addition to the Big East winner, we're going to get one more team in Houston that doesn't deserve it get into the BCS this year, right? Can't be any worse than having Boise State get in. It's much worse. Remember when Hawaii made the BCS? That was a great game. At least Boise's proven they can play with good teams year in and year out. Houston struggled to beat UCLA at home this year. Boise has proven that they can win a game they have several weeks (or months) to prepare for.

    Not really, there's almost no new info in this story. It's an excellent summary and this newspaper is one of the few that has journalistically done a good job with the story, but almost all of this stuff was reported previously. I meant it was damning in the sense that, if you're still a JoePa apologist after reading, you're an idiot

    I hate to defend these guys if it turns out they had any prior knowledge, but I think of a board of directors for a charity loaded with celebrities like that as pretty damn hands off. (pardon the phrase) I can't imagine Cal Ripken was doing much more than making an appearance or 2 per year and giving the occassional donation. I don't know why you'd think that given what we've found out in the past few days. Nothing would surprise me at this point.
