  1. Do u have OBP and SLG backwards? Actually, I think the site I used is wrong. FoxSports.com's "splits" page is all screwed up. Check it out: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/playerSplits?categoryId=85122&seasonSelected=2&splitYearForm=Go According to that, over the last 3 years he's hit .370 against lefties, and .314 against righties. Obviously some calculations must have went way wrong.
  2. Actually now that I read the thread and link in BBD, it just has a quote from Bruce about how he knew he wasn't going to make it when Corey was signed, so that thread was a little premature, even if it appears that's the way Dusty is leading.
  3. As posted in BD, Dusty has named Corey Patterson his starting centerfielder and leadoff man. He said he has a "plan", and that we should just let the "plan" do the talking, instead of asking questions about it. Or something like that.
  4. Not advocating the trade, but Inge's last 3 years versus lefties: .370/.504/.458 for a .962 OPS.
  5. FWIW, Belkast had said a little earlier that'd be a 5-2 deal if it happened. I'm assuming that would mean Payton and one of Marquis/Demp added in addition to the other 4.
  6. G. Beckham 4-5 with 2 more homers. That's 9 on the year! I've actually heard a Nomar comparison now.
  7. He does have all the natural talent in the world, I don't think the quote is reall all that crazy. The chances he reaches it? Slim to none. But the tools are there.
  8. Game is on WGN. Never too early to beat the Sox.
  9. You have to think if you are the Orioles. Why would they trade Roberts for a downgrade at the position in addition to yet another back end guy for their rotation that would probably get shelled in their division?
  10. Rosenthal said in his latest article that the Cubs wouldn't trade for both Roberts and Crisp, because it would be too much money (even with Marquis in a deal). That leaves me with a tough time finding out who the other player is if it isn't Crisp (maybe Byrd I guess).
  11. Nice mini writeup by CJ on the Brewerfa.net boards: http://brewersfandemonium.yuku.com/topic/8874/t/2008-College-Resource-Thread.html?page=4
  12. SS Gordon Beckham has been tearing it up and is moving into mid first round territory according to a couple of sites. BTW, milb has their draft thing up: http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080311&content_id=356818&vkey=news_milb&fext=.jsp
  13. Sadly, the RealGM report was true. Good luck to Rocco. http://rotoworld.com/content/HeadLines.aspx?sport=MLB&hl=230614
  14. I think Crisp would be fine if he would except a platoon role, which i'd have no problem with. Worst case scenario is that he still gets whiney, though I really wouldn't care because we've lost Marquis and Fuld, one of who we want gone for a bag of balls anyways.
  15. With the O's scouts there, you've got to think they are leaning to wanting EPatt included with his good performance.
  16. BA with the nice top high school guys at each position piece with a mini scouting report on each. http://www.baseballamerica.com/online/high-school/season-preview/2008/265670.html C-Skipworth 1B-Hosmer 2B-Dykstra SS-Beckham 3B- Martinez OF-Grossman OF-Avery OF-Galloway UTIL- Hicks LHP: Lobstein RHP: Cole LHP: Ross RHP: Melville RHP: Gray Scouting reports are vague... only 3 sentences or so, but if anyone wants any tell me which ones.
  17. Ouch. A good poster at the OH has a nice new draft site up and running if anyone's interested: http://www.mlb-draft.com/
  18. Most scouting reports pre-draft raved about him having good plate discipline and patience. He either was considered to have the best or second best plate discipline behind Heyward amongst HS picks. 2nd best plate discpline behind Heyward IIRC, and was named the prep hitter most likely to make it to the majors 1st.
  19. Belkast says he was told it wasn't as likely Roberts will be dealt as it was a month ago. And.. That last quote makes me feel good.
  20. http://www.philly.com/inquirer/sports/15917802.html http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/02/23/AR2008022301822.html
  21. He's got his faults, but the bottom line is that a player who's at bat results in him standing on 1st base 40% of the time can be valuable if used correctly.
