  1. I think it is fair to be excited about what is going on, but I am still concerned that they can revert just as fast. I can still see this team loosing 6 out of 9 at any given time. When you have young players playing over their heads, and a pitching staff that for the most part is shocking a lot of people it makes me a little hessitant to jump to get the world series tickets. I would just like the Cubs to get a little closer to the Brewers and have a great stretch run. That would make for an exciting summer!
  2. I still find it hard to believe that the Cubs have 3 lefties in their rotation. However, it would be nice to have big Z get in there and keep the train going whille things are going well.
  3. Since I am sitting at home with nothing going on, I am trying to watch Sports Center, but instead I have to flip stations because Shawn (sp) Marrion (sp) is taking us through the day and life of being himself. So maybe it is not just Barry that they love, but all users.
  4. Yes I was..sorry for the confussion.
  5. That was a great catch, and he has been all you could ask for from any player on the team. He has recently came through in the clutch, he is hitting even with no REAL protection behind him, and he makes all the plays in the field. I was worried being that he just got a nice contract that he would slump this year, but he is prob. the best player on the team or at least very close to it. He deserved to be in the ASG!
  6. Thanks for the Picture. It worked great for my computer!
  7. Back to Bonds... I hate the guy as much as the next guy, but I still can not believe that he is picked out as if he is the only one who was using steroids. I was watching ESPN today and saw a preview for the day in the life of Shawn Marrion. Correct me if I am wrong, but he was found to be using steriods last year, but yet he is still celebrated. There is also a wide beliefe that at least 40 percent of the league at one point was using something illegal (including the pitchers). What he has managed to do is very impressive no matter how he did it. There were a lot of other players out there using that did not break the record because they were not talented, which Bonds hate to say it was. I understand people not wanting him to break the recrod. Hell I would like him to fall 1 HR shy. However, I do not think you can say it does not matter because he was a cheater.
  8. When he say's Zambrano will eventually be signed, where is he getting that information from? I am just currious, becuase I thought they were not negotiating durring the season.
  9. I still have like three baseballs with his signature that I got when he was just starting out. Hopefully he becomes a super star so they are worth something.
  10. I think the Cubs line-up is deeper then any line-up they have put out there in years, and that is what I see being the difference maker. Soriano, Lee, and Ramirez could very well be the best (or at least close to the best) in their position. Murton can take a walk or let Soriano at least steal a base, and then have Lee or Ramirez drive him in. In past years that would be all we would have to count on. Now we have Jones, Floyd, Barret who are solid against the right pitchers. Then followed by small ball but adequate hitters like Derosa (Cedeno), Izturis (Theriot). Looking at the line-up you can't say they are all about power, but they should be able to put up some numbers.
  11. Let him sit out the entire first half of the season, and then come in down the stretch and help push the Cubs into the post season. He is on the team, and we all know he can't stay healthy why even try to get him to pitch durring the first half. Leave him to strengthen his arm, and then when we need him he can come in and help win 5-6 games.
  12. Reyes is simply a star, and has quickly turned into one my my favorite players to watch. Even though he is on the team that I hate the most.
  13. I had to cover my Zambrano pick in the second round, by picking Hill in the second to last round for fantasy. I am counting on one to be my ace!
  14. I hope that he can at least get in a few games and get a few hits. I feel sorry for the guy.
  15. I seem to be in the minority in Chicago, but I would love to see Sammy have a great year and hit 25-30 HR's and hit near .270 this year. I don't think it will happen, but for some of the good memories that he provided, I just hope he can have a good season and then retire on his own term. I know he did not do everything to be a team player, or to end things good in Chicago, but he always seemed to go out on the field and work hard.
  16. I honestly don't know if I am biased, but I could not see the Pitcher spot going to anyone but Maddog. Watching him over the years, it is unbelievable how he never fails to make the play. He is in the perfect position every pitch.
  17. If this relationship can make Soriano happy, and that makes him play better, then that is great. I just don't want him to get to sad when Pie gets shipped back to the minors. I am sure in his time with the Cubs he will get a chance to play with him.
  18. He might be saying the right things, but I can only hope he does the right thing when it comes to the game situation. Honestly, I dont want to see Prior trying to slash a bunt for a basehit three quarters along in the season, and have him tear out his groin. But, I do like most of the other stuff he has been saying.
  19. Soriano looks like a 12 year old playing around. I look forward to watching him lead off and starting the game off 1-0, but I am going to have to cringe every time there is a pop up headed his way.

I would take Big Z over Sheets just about any day of the week. Zambranno is much more durrable and his stuff is at least even if not better thne Sheets at this point. They might have some better players at certain positions, but I think if you listed the best vs. the best. Like Lee vs. Hall, and then ARam vs. Fielder, and then Soriano vs. Weeks. That starts to seperate the teams because I think the top three players on the Cubs are better then the top three for Mil. or just about any other team in their division. Pujos, Edmonds, Rolen are just about equal.
  21. I have the baseball fever already. I was depressed going into last season, because I felt like the Cubs were putting on the field a very poor team. I am more excited this year then I have been since 2003 for baseball to start. Lou is going to hopefully be a big difference, and he will be able to use players to maximize their potential. The BEARS are GREAT and I am super excited about the Super Bowl, but that does not take away my anticipation for DA CUBS.
  22. lol, what does locking the cashbox mean? and I would be interested in watching the video also.
  23. I think he will be in the rotation, so I am not sure how this gets McCarthy into the rotation also?
  24. Floyd reminds me a lot of Rich Hill with more upside. He came up and has not done that well, but everyone is still expecting him to break out.
  25. If I had the choice between Drew and Soriano for almost the same price. I would deffinitly pick Soriano he is much more reliable then Drew and adds more areas to the game then Drew.
