Prior handled it well though. He always seems like such a stoic on the mound. 1.0 IP, 3 K, 1 BB, 0 H, 0 ER good so far. if this ump calls the strikezone the same for redman, we're going to put up some runs.

6'1", 215 vs. 5'9" 170ish right? Or close to that? yeah. cubs.com has Greenberg listed at 180, but that might be overestimating it, lol. he even looked small next to Len. they seem like very nice kids though...ready to learn.

true. look at CPat this year before he was sent down. you have to get on base before you can use speed.

Baserunning has very little to do with it compared to how often you get on base and how good the guys behind you are at getting on base. why do you put speedier guys on base in front of your 3-4-5 hitters? If you are on first and someone doubles, you may or may not score depending on how well you run the bases. you know what the odds on getting back to back hits from your 3-4 hitters is? it's 9%, assuming both are hitting .300. You don't put speedier guys in front of your 3-4-5, you put your high OBP guys in front of the 3-4-5. If they happen to be fast, it's a bonus. i was assuming OBP was equal and we were debating baserunning/speed. having Dunn bat leadoff wouldn't be a good idea, agree? it would be wasted power yes, but you wouldn't put someone that slow in as leadoff (or as #2).

Does having a higher OBP mean you will score more? Not necessarily. It means you have the chance to score more runs. Running the bases, speed, and stealing all factor into it.

The specific number of PA is unrevealed in Walker's contract. That seems pretty standard for MLB deals. I'm pretty sure the number is 525. Regardless, with his injury and splitting time earlier with Hairston, he's unlikely to vest it. Even then it's likely a moot point since the Cubs are likely to pick up the option. I don't think Walker is likely to make it. He was quoted as saying that he wasn't focusing on the money (from the option kicking in) and that if he wanted to stay in Chicago and Chicago still wanted him, he'd be here to serve in some capacity, regardless of the PA activated option.

Huff's stock is low, so I think he could be had for a stomachable price. It won't be Z for Huff like LaMar tried to sell us on in the offseason. However, RP are at a premium. Baez is pretty solid and his price will be steep. MacDougal is the more likely option, however if the two were side by side at the same price (for argument's sake) I'd take Baez in a heartbeat. I'm sure most people would too.

lol. it's pretty sad when we have to stack the deck to get certain players in the game and keep others (Neifi) out.

at least Murton is playing. we all know Cedeno won't do much besides pull splinters out of his backside with Neifi in the mix. on a positive note, i'm really excited to watch some baseball. :)

Dunn does strike out a lot, but his K/BB ratio is appreciably lower than other strike out artists, eg Jim Edmonds, who has a K/BB ratio of 1.66 (83 K, 50 BB) while Dunn has a ratio of 1.49 (94 K, 63 BB) this year.
