i feel like bryant got completely screwed over on (at least) 2 at bats tonight. Id really like to have those two at bats over. I know that's what you get when you face a guy like kershaw but he and dex are the two guys i felt most comfortable with against kershaw and getting 25 percent of their at bats messed with by a weird ump is pretty upsetting. Strike 1 to Bryant in the 9th was such a bad call on such an important pitch

He's not wrong. Losing HFA in a 2-3-2 isn't good. Our 3-5 hitters being completely garbage isn't good. The only guys consistently hitting are Baez and Bryant and that's a problem. We aren't going to win this series without getting production from Rizzo, Zobrist, Russell and Heyward. The flip side of that is that we're bad luck away from being 2-0, the pitching matchups are generally in our favor and we are the more talented team. I still think we come back up 3-2.

And he had other bad stretches, too. They can easily win with Russell not hitting; it's not nearly as much of an issue as Rizzo going through one of his slumps. Makes me REALLY miss Schwarber; the lineup is pretty barren of power right now once you get past Bryant until Baez comes up to bat. I'm thinking we'll be seeing a bit more Soler with a pair of lefty's due up next. The idea of Soler is so much better than Soler actually is.

Kershaw doesn't have garbage command and he's getting a huge zone. Strike one has tended to be a good pitch to hit. Ergo attack early.
