  1. So disappointing that that's the case, but the it's the truth. I thought Jozy was going to have a breakout WC. Right there he should have scored. Awful. He's awful today
  2. Jozy is worthless today. Need to bring in Herc or Buddle
  3. Come on now. We can do this. The Slovenians are going to start dropping like flies to kill time.
  4. YESYESYESYESYES
  5. Come on now. 45 minutes. Show some heart here.
  6. [expletive]. Just awful
  7. Come on and finish, guys.
  8. I hate to say it, but no way Clark leaves that much space available on the SVN goal.
  9. We look awful so far. Howard, way, way too far off his line there.
  10. [expletive]
  11. Slovenia has come out attacking more than I expected
  12. Uh oh... please no red
  13. Lalas is so stupid. Torres isn't an attacking mid. He's a deep laying playmaker. This is going to be glorious. Minus Davies, this is probably oupr best XI.
  14. Torres. Yes. So fricking pumped right now.
  15. Wow, Ze Germans are getting hosed. The ref in this game has been atrocious. Hopefully not a sign of things to come in this tournament. And wow, I can hear the crowd singing.
  16. An early goal for the US would do wonders. It would force a offensively-challenged side to open themselves up and we can pick them apart. 1-0 from US after about 15 minutes could turn into 3-0 in the end.
  17. Thanks for the Univision tip. I hadn't thought of it. I've had no issues with it for the non US games, but I'm a little concerned about the traffic tomorrow am. I'll probably be on no later than 8:30, so I hope thats soon enough. Hopefully ESPN has their server ish in order.
  18. Just finished watching MEX/FRA on Univision. First, Domenech is the blurst coach in the history of ever. Just horrid. No one does less with more talent. Leaving Nasri and Benzema at home and not playing Henry as a sub while scoring zero times? Next, despite the fact he looks like a girl, Gio Dos Santos is just killing it. The FMF really handled him correctly. Despite him being a drunken idiot at the club level and hardly getting any burn for a Colaship side (after flaming out at Barca and Spurs), they decided that he was so important to El Tri that they'd make him a key part of the squad despite his playing time. Smart move. Also, respect to Mexico's fans. They travel very well. I heard ole's mixed in with the bees and kazoos. Finally, if ESPN3 doesn't work for me tomorrow at the office, I'm going to be pissed.
  19. Oh how did he miss that? This is a great game.
  20. That's insane. I want the PRK to advance to the next round just so we get more of that kind of info.
  21. Well I guess I'd better hope that your 2nd point is true, because the Vuvuzela isn't going anywhere, and the fields aren't going to get any better. True about the vuvuz, but I'd think that teams will start to adjust to the speed of the pitch beginning this batch of games, and that coupled with the nature of group play means that you'll see more open and attacking soccer pretty soon.
  22. I think the problem in this World Cup is as follows: -The atmosphere is setting a negative tone. One of the best parts of any international soccer tournament (Euro, WC, Copa America) is hearing the interplay of different fanbases and the singing, chanting and music that sets the stage. The vuvuzela are murdering the usually fantastic crowd background. You don't hear rumbles of excitement, of discontent. You don't hear the roar of a crowd after a good play or a goal. This matters, even in a subconscious sense. It makes games seem far less exciting than they normally would be. -The first batch of games featured teams that were playing not to lose. You'll probably see things loosen up as teams are going to have to start winning games and attacking more. -The ball and field surfaces in South Africa are causing more technical players to have issues with their passing. How many overhit crosses or improperly weighted balls have you seen?
  23. HAhahahahahaha Spain. La Marca is going to have a field day with this.
  24. In my quest to find a way to watch the US game Friday at work, I discovered that I can get ESPN3 here. I've been watching all the games on my pc. It's glorious.
  25. The thing about Slovenia is that they're not so much a bunker/counter side as a side that plays possum. They aren't fast. They sort of lull you to sleep and pick their spots. They'll concede possession for 55 minutes and then try to attack for 15. Their back 4 are organized and their keeper is pretty good. In qualifying the scored 18 and conceded 4, but their group contained San Marino and Northern Ireland. We have to be wary of them, but CONCACAF should have provided us with the experience in breaking down teams that park the bus, and the quality of our XI should keep us from overlooking the fact that they can be dangerous when they decide to play.
