  1. Wrigley's a given at #1 with this crowd. Who rounds out your top 5-10? 2) Fenway 3) Kauffman (too bad they don't play baseball there) 4) PNC 5) Dodger Stadium
  2. 309/380/451/831 - Minor league career 321/386/521/907 - First shot at big league pitching He'll be OK.
  3. No, Hairston's our third best. 1) Murton 2) Pierre 3) Hairston 4) Jones 5) Mabry 6) Grissom/Restovich
  4. If they can get him on the cheap, and get something of value for Walker, I'd be much more satisfied with the 2B depth chart of Vidro, Hairston, Perez, instead of Hairston, Perez. I envision that to be a rather big if.
  5. I don't think I've really heard Hendry talk about extending Dusty's contract. The media keeps saying he should, and I believe Andy has talked the most about Jim and Dusty's contracts. But I would imagine any talk on this subject would satisfy Cards fans. I want Dusty to manage the Cubs forever. Of course you do. Me? I want Dusty to leave, TLR to decide to retire, and Jocketty to sign Dusty to a 10 year deal.
  6. Maybe Rafael and his career .221/.270/.259/.529 line are making a comeback. Thought that might have been a misprint, so I looked it up.
  7. I don't have the best knowledge of what other PCL teams will have to offer in 2006, so I'm hoping some others can help me decide which I-Cubs games I should go to and who the players to look for are. Here are the teams coming to Des Moines this season. You send me to the right game, and I'll drink a tall boy in your honor! Albuquerque Nashville Round Rock Memphis Colorado Springs Salt Lake Omaha New Orleans Oklahoma Tacoma Portland
  8. Has that always been the sign Cubs players use for "good play" or "good catch" ? Is that the only thing they use? For me, the most noticeable was Alou. I always figured that signal to be "2 outs..." but that wouldn't make much sense in spring training drills... :? maybe the are making jerry work on giving and recieving signs... He's reminding Mark Prior who won the national championship in football this past season. Hook 'em, horns! http://images.theglobeandmail.com/archives/RTGAM/images/20050121/wbush0121/_done_0121horns.jpg
  9. Especially this year since the WBC will provide for even more diluted talent on the field for ST games.
  10. Interesting decision coming up for the D'Backs if Upton and Drew are both what they appear to be and neither want to move positions.
  11. The Cubs WHIP was also 6th best in the NL, meaning fewer men reached base than a lot of teams, ultimately resulting in less chances for a DP.
  12. Eaton, unless his arm falls off. Then, I'd pick up whoever replaces Eaton.
  13. Arizona Williams http://namtiti.free.fr/encyclopedie/badges%20police%20department/Arizona%20Williams%20Chief.jpg
  14. NL West: Peavy Nomar Helton Giles Don't care about anyone else in the division NL East: Delgado Utley Cabrera/Wright (I'll flip a coin) Abreu Dontrelle Pedro Don't care about anyone else
  15. Neifi went and got himself some chicken legs.
  16. CF, 2B/Util, 2B ---- CF, SS/Util, RF Not a very fair comparison. Expound.. Those 3 guys had about 1500 or so at-bats in the 1,2 & 5 spots. Simply plugging hypothetical players in spots in the lineup and saying they're better for the team is unfair. Sure, Hairston is a better #2 option than Neifi, but can Jerry play SS? Soriano is a better #5 hitter than Burny, but can or will he play RF? If Sori is at 2B, where's Hairston?
  17. Runs at home - 469 (278/341/509/850) Runs away - 396 (258/318/430/747)
  18. How 'bout "Team gonna need to make some moves by May 1 if I wanna stay in the running"?
  19. CF, 2B/Util, 2B ---- CF, SS/Util, RF Not a very fair comparison.
  20. I think it's funny that nobody believes what Dusty says until it's something that can be twisted to mean that Neifi will start 155 games and bat #2 for 150 of those. Dusty says Walker's his 2B if he's still on the team. Translation: Walk will be traded, Neifi starts at 2B. Dusty says Ronny is young. Translation: Ronny will ride the pine while Neifi starts at SS. Dusty sings Murton's praises. Translation: *crickets*
  21. How do you explain Glenallen Hill, circa 98-00?
  22. I love the comments below
  23. Also Aramis may skip the WBC. Woo whoo! http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-060221cubsbits,1,1267322.story?coll=cs-home-headlines Translated: I know what OBP means at the top of the order, and I actually took some time to find out Walker would be the best option in the 2 spot.
  24. Hitters can hit, pitchers can pitch. Their era may dictate their overall dominance by the stats they put up, but to say that today's players are somehow more gifted or talented is crazy. Ty Cobb would likely have hit Pedro. Ruth would likely have taken Clemens deep. However, Clemens would likely have struck out Mantle and ARod would likely have an 1100 OPS against Lefty Grove. Players are different because their eras dictate that's how players should be during that particular timeframe. If the 1920s were a "juiced" era, things would be a lot different.
