  1. I'm not a fan of the general direction of transactions going on right now. But I'm not upset about this move in particular. Considering Guzman is already in the pen, Marshall for Cotts was probably the best option. I still don't get the point of Guzman to the bullpen. Although I'm pretty sure knee-jerk Lou is partially blaming Angel for the downfall against the Mets, and in punishing him for leaving the game early. They had made it pretty clear Guzman was going to get several starts when he first got the job, but that ended rather quickly. They are NOT punishing Guzman. Maybe, maybe not. The one thing that's certain is that it was a bad move.
  2. We should put Aramis on the bench so we have a really good pinch hitter.
  3. My jets aren't hot, I'm just pointing out that it's a terrible suggestion. It makes less sense to have a "shut down" closer when you deliberately weaken your pitching staff in order to get there.
  4. IIRC, he makes just as much money as Ozzie.
  5. I'm beyond irritated with the Guzman to the pen suggestions. Just because idiot managers elsewhere are doing it, doesn't make it right. Papelbon should be starting, so should Guzman. It makes no sense to take your best pitchers and put them in for 50 innings instead of 200.
  6. There was plenty of reason to believe that the Pierre trade would have happened even with Furcal. And while Furcal had a pretty good season by his standards last year, 13M+ is too high of a price tag for him.
  7. No way that was staged. Why would Ozzie stage a fight to help North's ratings? Ozzie's dumber than a bag of hammers.
  8. I'm OK with Rosie O'Donnell in CF if she can hit close to 500 for a stretch. Beehatch best be riding pine when she suddenly remembers who she is.
  9. I find it hard to believe that people still care what Kyle's opinions are.
  10. My new favorite baseball team is every team in the league except the Cubs. That should ensure they start winning.
  11. He was shaded up the middle because of the DP opportunity. Delgado is a dead pull hitter. Theriot, DP opp or not, was incredibly out of position for who was at bat. Do you honestly think Theriot put himself there on his own? The coaches position the fielders in those situations. I guarantee Theriot was standing exactly where somebody told him to be. Oh, and Delgado is not a dead pull hitter. He's had more singles to LF this year than RF. His hit chart shows he's barely hit anything down the line this year. I know it sucks people, but it happens. Ground balls find holes. Dempster lost the game by walking people, but there's no justification for hanging Eyre, Theriot or Murton for this game. Eyre gave up a soft single and a ground ball that trickled through. That's baseball. You can't choose where groundballs are hit. I'm not saying it was Theriot's fault, but he was out of position.

  13. No, you cannot pitch yourself into a blown save just as you cannot pitch yourself into a save. A save situation is clearly defined, and it cannot become a save situation while the same pitcher is still on the mound. Dempster's performance yesterday was not a blown save, Eyre's was.
