  1. maybe in the sense that nobody wants to touch him
  2. Inge or Pudge? They're numbers are almost equal and both were pretty bad last year. I was talking about Pudge, but the same applies for Inge
  3. Not working for me either. Damn. you guys suck at using the interwebs.
  4. I didn't realize until now he was having a decent offensive season
  5. that would be an extremely intelligent thing for them to do
  6. no This year Dunn's OPS: .931 Manny's OPS: .932 It's pretty close now see if you can find a stat that adjusts for league and park factors and compare again. sure, it's close, but Manny's still better.
  7. none of that has happened that I'm aware of
  8. if an 825 OPS is pretty bad, I'll gladly take it. Which is strangely better than Ibanez's season numbers. That said, at least Ibanez is healthy and would probably be counted on to be healthy. I still prefer the Edmonds/Johnson platoon
  9. if an 825 OPS is pretty bad, I'll gladly take it.
  10. I'll never forget when he single-handedly found a cure for polio
  11. I'm confused, are you saying Manny at age 28 was better than Adam Dunn today or in this age Manny is better than Dunn? because you probably shouldn't be finding too many people disagreeing either way. and saying this has nothing to do with their batting averages
  12. Oh I wouldnt say its the most important, but to say its not at all important when comparing hitters makes no sense The problem is, if you look at OBP and SLG, you get everything batting average tells you plus how often they get on via a walk and how often they hit for power. Average is an ok stat for certain purposes, but it's terribly limited in what it tells you. average is a really good number to look at when you want to know what someone's batting average is
  13. For a 120 OPS+, I'd give a couple of decent minor leaguers. Ibanez would force Edmonds to the bench and give us a heck of a pinch hitter. I'm not convinced Edmonds will stay healthy all year. I agree with you...Even if Ibanez isn't playing real well this year the fact that we could get another left handed center fielder in case of a Edmonds injury. He's not much worse this year than previous years. OPS+ from 2001 to 2008: 115, 122, 103, 116, 115, 125, 121, 120 What is OPS+ anyway? How can you possibly have 4500 post at NSBB and not know this? The education committee is not doing their job! you haven't spent enough time around here lately if you have to ask
  14. I don't like this idea at all, not even a little bit
  15. as someone who corrects people for their grammar, you might want to avoid phrases like "might could"   Is that some kind of Louisiana thing or something? I've seen that before, though extremely infrequently. "Might could" is a very southern thing. I hear it around here all the time. hicks
  16. that would be stupid Yea, i guess it would be silly to pay more attention to a baseball game(while at one) than just get wasted. Yes, it would be stupid to purposefully curtail your drinking (ie, fun). Your at a baseball game, If you need to drink to have fun at a baseball game.. well.. I dunno then. I have a blast at baseball games. I have even more fun when there's beer involved
  17. Did he have any problems with the announcers in San Fran? he probably didn't care because nobody watched or listened to their games
  18. somebody's not here to make friends
  19. then start a thread titled "post game thread"
  20. sweet, I had seen several ads for the game, but I never did see if it was going to be televised
