  1. I didn't say he was an improvement over Corey. I was talking about an improvement at leadoff where, as it was reported in the news papers, the Cubs tried 8 different batters who combined to hit .248 Top of the order was a black hole in the lineup last year. I think Hendry is still looking for another top of the order guy to replace Walker in the MI. It will be nice to solidify the guys infront of the meat of the order. One could argue that Neifi and Corey shouldn't have been hitting at the top (I agree) but that was the reality. This off season move (and a pending move) eliminate that possibility in the future.
  2. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! Let's just assume Pierre bounces back to norm. Say he posts a .340 OBP 2006. .248 out of leadoff for us last year. MONSTER UPGRADE indeed. How do you think that will effect Lee's RBIs and our runs scored out of lead-off. Quite a bit I think. Thanks for pointing that out. .340 OBP for Pierre isn't that good but I get your point. In his most productive years he's around .350/.360+ That would be sweet along with an improvement in his SB%. Like it or people, he's our leadoff man. I'll be rooting for him to have a great year.
  3. Hmmm, I guess they have given up on Lugo and will focus on Renteria. I say that because Estrada was rumored to go in a deal to get Lugo.
  4. You had me until the part about having to like Murph. He's an idiot. Big time! It's an embarrassment that he's the only Cubs fan on the station. Len Kasper is on now.
  5. he also said that they're targeting milwood. offman knows nothing about baseball, and he's right there. Ofman first reported the Pierre story a month ago saying that it would likely include Pinto. So, um, he may know a little something. The anti-Score sentiment here is pathetic. The SCORE is pathetic. The Score is bad and the biggest problem is everyone on the station, with the exception of Murph, is a Sox fan (and he's as disgruntled as they come). Plus, they spread alot of rumor and untruth as fact. I listen but then again, I'm a bit of a masochist. Actually, I just started to listen again. I couldn't take all the Sox gloatng.
  6. Len Kasper is going to be on the Murph show. FYI, he's devoting all 2 hours to the Cubs (for a change). 670thescore.com
  7. Well, Murph's on now. I'm sure he'll have some intelligent insight on what's going on... LOL, can you say "rant?"
  8. The Score's George Ofman believes that Jack Wilson (and Julio Lugo) is on the Cubs radar for SS.
  9. That's not out of the realm of possiblity. First of all, Pie is still very young so, depending on his progress in 2006, the Cubs may decide to extend Pierre. Kiley in the Suntimes says this: However, I don't think the Cubs would play Pie in RF.
  10. Because that would be really stupid. You don't put a guy with a throwing arm that rivals Jonny Damon's in RF. Pierre can't slug, can't throw. His value comes from playing CF. Except for the throwing part, isn't that the Scott Podsednick story that the Cubs are trying so hard to emulate? Pods has a horrible arm as well.
  11. This year it is the price. Furcal is making 13MM/ year, fragile Burnett got a 5 year deal, and 29 other teams know the Cubs are desperate for a leadoff man. This is the priceI hope this can seal the deal so we can get our RF. OT---I think Hendry may still try to get Lugo and bat him first or second.
  12. Corey shouldn't sniff the 2-hole until he learns plate discipline. His speed does him no good if he can't hit or take a walk. EDIT--
  13. Get it done. Mitre is not going into the Cubs rotation so if they want him, and it will complete the deal, do it. Rotoworld
  14. I don't care about Pierre's SLG% as much as other do, but if his OPB is below .360 next year then we overpaid. That's a tough call for a guy with a career .355 OBP Although, he's eclipsed that mark 3 times in his career, including 2003.
  15. [-X Looks like this thread has taken a left turn...
  16. I hate Rogers more. Sox lover just wants to diss the Cubs.
  17. Pierre's price seems to have dropped a bit. Other clubs have backed off.
  18.   We were duped by The Score AGAIN
  19. LOL, we posted at the same time. Great minds think alike.
  20. They said they would go to Dallas after the news.
  21. Pierre will make more than Patterson. Hmmm, I stand corrected. Do you know the figures? ALso, when is PAtterson up for arb? Both are up for arbitration. Pierre made 3.5 million last year, and Patterson made 2.8 million. Both were terrible last year, and Patterson was worse, so barring some miracle, Pierre will get more. Thanks. I still don't see them taking Patterson for Pierre.
