  1. I don't often defend the arms in the Cub pen, but it is a significant weather change for them to adapt to. However, there still is little defense for Williamson not throwing strikes while up by 7. Williamson put Baker in a pickle. I'm sure Dusty wanted to hold Eyre for the next ininng. Also, with the way Wuertz has been pitching, I'm certain he didn't want to go to him even though he had warmed up earlier with Ohman. As a result, Eyre threw more than he normally will. You simply can't use other pitchers as an excuse to misuse a guy. Eyre shouldn't have even pitched. Williams, who is the longman, should have been ready to go 7-9 this game. It's the first game, there's just no reason to extend a guy like that. I was hoping for no Williams or Wuertz. I'm sure Dusty was as well. They haven't been pitching with lots of confidence. As it turns out, Williamson made things interesting. Bases loaded no outs
  2. LOL, yup but it's been interesting with all the walks.

  4. I thought that was uncalled for. Dusty was calling a good game up to that point. That made no sense... I do agree that Baker was calling a pretty good game but you can't leave a relief pitcher on opening day for 37 pitches. I'm sure the off day was taken into consideration.
  5. Nice glovework by Hairston to save a hit and an RBI
  6. Murton almost doesn't seem like he should be a Cub prospect, he knows how to hit. Weird. Well, he really wasn't a Cubs prospect.
  7. Surprise, surprise, Dunn makes a catch. The crowd cheers sarcastically.
  8. Fred, didn't they give DLee an error (even though you can't assume the DP)?
  9. Thank goodness tomorrow is an off day. The bullpen guys will need a rest.
  10. Actually, this has been a good defensive game, overall, for the Cubs.
  11. You clearly have not a done very good job with the training. She should know not to even have to ask. I think she's working on her "yes" and "no" training.
  12. Len says Miles had 5 hits on opening day last year. In other words, its downhill from here.
  13. Nah, cut him some slack, he's been in the middle of all the fun today.
  14. That is what the team was missing early last year. It would have been great if he could have held them without a run, but he did an excelltent job IMO. Nice job kid. He did a fantastic job; he came in with no outs and the bases loaded
  15. Eyre strikesout Dunn and the crowd Boos him.
