  1. Rich will start the inning with 34 pitches
  2. I'ts 80's night, no particular reason for that I don't think. Well, Sandberg dominated in the 80's.. Maybe that has something to do with it.. I doubt it. They put these days on the calendar at least a year in advance but I think there's an 80's night every year at Wrigley.
  3. Grisson singles home Matheny. Yet another bloop hit just over Aramis' glove. 1-0
  4. Matheny with the bloop double that hugged the RF line. He was almost thrown out at 2nd
  5. There ya go Rich. A first pitch curve t Moises.
  6. Yes, I'm hoping he isn't that sharp tonight.
  7. His curve has missed a few times. Len and Bob sp0eculate that the humidity may be a factor.
  8. I don't see that happening. Williams have pretty much solidifed his position in the starting rotation, either poeple like it or not IMHO. Maybe Hill will become a fixture in the rotation (pending his performance). Considering the Cubs have announced that Kerry will work out of the bullpen when he is reactivated from the DL. Lets play ball.
  9. This may in fact be a big week when we consider the matchups: Atlanta and Washington will go head to head--both are tied atop the East/Wild Card standings. Also interesting is the Astros and Phillies will go head to head. Both teams are ahead of the Cubs for the Wild Card so yet again, there may be ground to be made. Conversely, the Cubs trail the Mets and are tied with the Marlins. They play the Rockies and Pirates respectively therefore, the Cubs need to handle their own business with the Giants (and diamondbacks afterwards).
  10. I am very happy that he is recovering nicely. However, I noticed that this article is dated 7/24 for an incident that occurred on 7/9. if I were Greenberg I would stop talking about this issue. Whether or not he actually said he is "haunted by the memories" or it was added for dramatic effect, he should consider keeping his feeling about the matter to himself. The Cubs may view some of what has been reported as a negative. No doubt other teams will pitch him up and in to intimidate and push him off the plate. I hope he has the opportunity to get back in the batter's box soon so that this issue can be put behind him.
  11. It was a great game and we are now even on heartbreak games.
  12. that's the end of the series. i see you're still a fan. Nah, Im still pisssed. I just need to know who starts for the Giants cause Im starting a game thread. tomorrow is Schmidt vs. Hill. dang we always struggle with Schmidt. He hasn't been pitching like he did in years past. He's very hittable this year because of injuries.
  13. Hill has already been announced as tomorrow's starter.
  14. Before you give them too much credit please remember that 3 of their 4 runs came on homeruns.
  15. You know it! That's two heartbreak games in the series (one for each). You know the Cards thought they had this game the way it started then they had to love their chances after coming back to tie at home.
  16. True story: This afternoon, I listen to the Cardinals (KMOX) call of game one of this series on Gameday Audio. One of the broadcasters (not Shannon) said watch out for Neifi Perez. At some point in this series he's gonna get a big hit. LOL, I laughed it off at the time considering Neifi's slump. :D :D :D
