  1. I just said that to my friend. I'm waiting for someone to give him a noogie. I bet he has a myspace page. $2 to the first person who finds it.
  2. Angel Pagan would've had to come in hard to catch that ball. Good job Murt!
  3. Rich Hill looks 14. And he has a nice head of hair.
  4. Hah. I'm older than that, and I have a lunch meeting with the president of my institution tomorrow, but I'm still watching.
  5. and highish - at least the way the zone has been called tonight
  6. It would lower the chance of scoring a run this inning. Compared to letting Z hit? The OBP of a batter has to be pretty low to justify bunting a runner from first to second with no outs. With one out, the OBP threshold is even lower. Z's OBP is pretty bad this year, but it's a small sample size. I think letting Z hit there was the right call, results notwithstanding. And Z knows this park, dude. .233 OBP in ~325 career PA's. Thanks. According to the James Click series on sac bunts, if a guy has a line greater than .199/.224/.174, he should swing away to maximize the chances of scoring 1 run with a runner on first and one out. Calling for Guz to sac bunt wouldn't have been the worst thing in the world, but it wasn't a no-brainer.

  9. Tonight is reminding me of this game. Z is pinch hitting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. I hope not. He threw 68 pitches on Saturday, didn't he?
  11. I like Guzman. Maybe he should keep pitching for the major league club for the rest of the year, eh Dusty?
  12. Good thing one will be sent down soon so Wade Miller can showcase his talents for whatever team is going to sign him next season. Eyre's injury might factor into that somewhere as well. Eyre's injury means Dusty will wait until Friday to use him again.
  13. He doesn't actually watch the games. He just replays Big Red Machine games over and over in his head.

  15. Enjoy watching him while he can still lift his arm.
  16. Selfish Pierre. He's playing for a free agent contract.
  17. Pierre guns down Burke at third! Gold gloves for everybody!
  18. Camera shows Dempster sitting on the bench. Can't use the closer unless he's finishing the game, dude.
  19. I wish Murton would be insistent about playing more regularly.
  20. Actually it shouldn't be a problem if his pitches are very limited. Edit: I mean Guz of course. I think it's a given that the Cubs were going to start Zambrano on normal rest.
  21. You could make a case for using Dempster when Ohman got into trouble. Before Tony Larussa ruined baseball, teams used to use their best relievers when they were most needed. Now, setup men have to pitch the 8th, closers have to pitch the 9th, etc.
  22. What's that bring his total on the year to? Three? Lol..actually 27, but it feels like 3. Izturis has had a good game, but he really ruined that inning for us. Dusty Baker ruined that inning for us. let Pierre steal the damn base if you want to play small ball and sac him to third if need be. Yup. Sac bunting Pierre to second lowers the chance of scoring a run in the inning. If Pierre were on second with no outs and were bunted to third, the chances of scoring increase.
