  1. Cubs hitters should test Victorino in CF. If I were Dusty, I would order them to hit to CF.
  2. Full season of Duncan = .810 OPS or so. Good enough to start in the Cubs OF, but not anything special.
  3. I agree that guys like Neifi and Izturis have value on teams that have the ability to score runs. However, playing much of the season without Izturis, the Cubs are the 4th best defensive team in MLB. Playing much of the season without Izturis, the Cubs are dead last in runs scored. Defense was not the problem with this roster. Instead of filling a hole, Hendry has created more holes for him to field. Hendry solved a problem that didn't exist. How did he create more holes with the Izturis trade? Because trading for Izturis moves Ronny to second.

  5. He's still just the 18th best centerfielder despite his recent hot streak. man...If we could get DeJesus...that would be sweet. And maybe turn and trade DeJesus to another team for another HOFer 2B, perhaps? 8) Joe Morgan's available?
  6. Aramis! Let's all head over to Gateway Redbirds and start posting about what a great closer Izzy is.
  7. When you are a garbage ball player batting 2nd in the lineup..that is what usually happens. Not Ceasar's fault. He sucks with the bat..blame the GM for getting him. Remember his glove is like driving in RBI's and is like a guy whos batting .350  Why can nobody just flat out say he is a great defensive SS? It always has to be qualified or with some flip remark about his hitting skills. If he makes a good play, the jokes start coming about his bat. You do realize that Neifi was a quantifiably better defensive SS, right? See comment #44 here. And Cesar's career offensive numbers are slightly worse than Neifi's. So as NSBB celebrates the Neifi trade, we'll go into 2007 with a higher-paid Neifi starting at SS.
  8. I do not come to bury Cesar, but to praise him.
  9. He's still just the 18th best centerfielder despite his recent hot streak.
  10. Power hitters do tend to strike out. It's just part of the game.
  11. I laughed.
  12. Pierre leaped up into the IVy in dead center to grap the 3rd out with the bases loaded I would also add that you should check out the replay on SportsCenter, but then again they'll be too busy showing REd Sox/Yankee highlights and skip the rest of MLB. The Red Sox and Yankees are playing?
  13. Juan Pierre is my new favorite player.* * No.
  14. So do you guys think he is going through a hot streak or is he going to be that good? He looks like a .340/.470/.810 type player at his peak. I guess the Cubs would take that, but I'd like more than that from a corner.
